LOS ANGELES – A Southern California Republican Party official was under fire Saturday after allegations she sent an email that included an altered photo depicting President Barack Obama as an ape.

An e-mail reportedly sent by party central committee member Marilyn Davenport shows an image, posed like a family portrait, of chimpanzee parents and child, with Obama's face artificially superimposed on the child. Text beneath the photo reads, "Now you know why no birth certificate."

Davenport, a tea party activist, represents the 72nd Assembly District in Orange County on the central committee. She represents Brea, Placentia, Fullerton and portions of other Orange County cities to the county committee tasked with fundraising, campaigning and debating policy for the Republican Party.

They called Bush everything but a child of god...Obama (yes I support him) is getting of light with OPEN criticisms of him..because he is black. They have to be more overly with it....

Bush was a boob and judged on his actions. Obamas monkey joke is purely racial. That's the difference.

One of the basic rationales for racial segregation in the deep South was that Blacks were SUB-HUMAN, APELIKE and NOT FULLY EVOLVED as a species.

It was considered deviant for good White folk to be 'intimate' socially or sexually with Negroes, and barely a step above bestiality.

Thus, the reason why comparing, repeatedly, the first AA POTUS to a 'monkey' isn't quite the same as saying blue-blood Dubya has simian qualities.

The latter is viewed by most people as a harmless joke.
The former comparison reaffirms what a small, core percentage of people in the U.S. secretly still believe about ALL Black folks.

    'What's the big outcry'??

Ask the GOP, since they seem unable to help themselves.

Too many folks around here don't know their history(!!), understand the daily attacks on their human dignity generations of Black folk had to endure, or the the disgusting characterizations they had to suffer against their personhood.

Mufuckas talk like racism is an abstract concept.

This is the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, a conflict that was fought mainly to preserve the 'rights' of slave states to retain 'ownership' of their property, because Blacks were considered by most Southerners as higher functioning animals.

Ymra, go to the library and pick up a copy of 'Native Son', and read how the protagonist is described after being arrested for his crime.

    Really man.:smt009

  7. If one has to explain the correlation between insults involving simians and African-Americans then you lost this argument before you even hit the keyboard.

Thank you. I've seen so many clueless people trying to make the comparison between this and George Bush it's ridiculous.

I just don't get how people don't see it. Unless they're blatantly lying.

Honestly, I don't find it offensive at all. I actually find it funny(I'm laughing at the people that called Obama a chimp, not at Obama himself as a chimp), because technically, we are ALL primates. We are still animals. Doesn't matter what ethnicity you are or what skin color you have. I believe that our DNA is either 98% or 99% genetically similar to that of a chimpanzee. So this means our DNA is almost identical to a chimp. From what I understand, both humans and chimps evolved from a commom ancestor.

I know that them calling Obama a chimp is of racial motives. I'm not denying that. Whites have called blacks monkeys, apes, and savages as a way to degrade us and show their racial superiority. It's all because of ignorance. They don't know that we are all cut from the same cloth. They don't realize they are primates too and we pretty much share the same origins. They feel the need to feel superior to us. As a matter of fact, all of us humans feel need to be superior. One thing us humans have is alot of ego. Many of us find that apes being genetically linked to us is demeaning. The very thought of us being evolved from apes or worse, a single cell organism is repulsing. Many of us don't consider ourselves to be primates or animals in general. Okay, we are the most intelligent and advanced species on this planet, but that doesn't make it demeaning.

I know some of you don't believe in evolution, but believe in creationism and intelligent design. Some of you believe that God created us as is on this Earth
and not from an ape or a single cell organism. Not some natural way, but a supernatural way. That's fine. I'm not going convince you other wise. I know that there are some people that believe in God, but still believe in evolution and not creationism. I don't believe in God nor creationism. I believe in evolution because of the suffcient evidence and facts. To me, the Bible is not sufficent evidence. It also makes much better sense(and more interesting)to me than creationism. It would still be a fact and the evidence would still be there even if I didn't believe it. Anyway, I didn't write all of this to start a fight or debate or to get off topic. You guys can believe in whatever you choose to believe in. This just my take on the topic. Just my two cents.

BTW, if some white guy called me a chimp or primate, I would just smile and laugh and say: "Yeah, so are you buddy". lol

Good thinking. You understand human evolution pretty well. It makes you wonder (partially) why racism even exists, since we all evolved overtime from the same thing thousands of years ago.

I actually agree with much of what you stated here and I understand what you mean word for word. But the whole thing has more to do with his ethnicity, so people won't recognize it with evolutionary theory. So, I highly recommend this...just in case someone take your post the wrong way:
