Like the man said people would take them anyway. Peopl who aren't taking them aren't afraid of the law as much as they're afraid to what it'll do to them.
The point is to reduce it and not stop all of it. People are going to kill people any way. it doesn't mean we should make that legal too.
LOL You're not even thinking. The cost of incarceration...loss of income...family destruction...ect ect involved with locking people up for drugs FAR outweigh the healthcare costs.
You are weighing all of that against death and rehabilitation. Death also includes loss of income, family destruction and the health care costs. This far outweighs what you just said. If the person does not die, then we have an even larger cost of rehabilitation that would have be lowered if there was law to reduce temptation. Again, you are not looking at what can be but what is now. You don't want to admit how dangerous making all drugs not some but all legal. The consequences far outweigh the consequences we have now. That is why this path was taken to eliminate the truly dangerous drugs.
There are so many non-violent drug users in prison that there's no room for the murderers and rapist. Early release of the most violent element of society to make room for drug users is CHAOS. Illegal Drugs will always be legal and lethal...So are legal prescription drugs....and booze. Prohibition of any kind simply doesn't work. It creates a Black market...gangs...shootouts...corruption...ect ect. Prohibition = Chaos.
This can be solved by putting them in rehabilitation centers. not by making all the drugs legal. You are not helping any community by making drugs that give health problems legal and easy to use. You are simply killing them faster.(cigs are a example of what bad things that are legal can do to harm people. so many lives lost. so many lies given to just make a dollar) Something can not be both legal and illegal. It is one or the other. Abuse of legal prescription drugs has cost lost of life to the community. We are against people killing themselves and not for it. The same can be said about alcohol. These are bad examples to use for someone arguing to legalize all drugs as they have cost thousands in lives while being legal. All of these things have a far less amount of people dying over making every drug legal. How many people die from cigarettes because that is legal? The number would be far less with it being illegal. The point of prohibition is to slow it down and not stop it. We are all aware that humanity doesn't have the ability to stop every thing that goes wrong. adding laws to put order into keeping people alive and healthy is not choas. adding rehabilitation centers is how you solve the problem and not by making every drug under the sun that can kill people legal.
Arch your issue isn't drug use i's drug abuse. There's a difference my friend. You can't compare cigarettes to drugs since it doesn't impair your ability to function. The better comparison would be alcohol and like any other drug it's bad when abused but not when you do it moderately, like two glasses of wine a day is ok but drinking a bottle a day will be bad for your liver. Legalizing drugs won't tempt those who weren't going to do it in the first place. Like Flame said the prohibition movement in the 20s didn't work because were drinking anyway.
What about the hard drugs that have no moderation. steriods two times a day will not help you. It will kill most people. Is that something that you can moderate? What about the hard drugs that have no moderation. steriods two times a day will not help you. It will kill you. You are not thinking of the health and death cases. Many have died from steriods, lcd, angel dust, cocaine and many other drugs. To make them legal would only allow people to start doing damage to their bodies. Like I said before prohibition is not there to stop every one. It is there to slow it down. Prohibition of murder isn't working should we start making murder legal? Fact of the matter is making all the drugs legal would only make more crack babies. It seems that is what many of you are arguing for by making any drug legal which would mean making it legal for babies to use crack lcd, steriods, angel dust cocaine and any drug their parents feel is ok for a baby to use.
your response saddens me. Is this a valid reason to place an unusual long sentence on them for a first time nonviolent offense, Iggy? Do you not really see a design in all of this. Just because a certain group may be predisposed to committing a particular nonviolent crime is that grounds for abusive punishment while allowing another group to receive lighter punishments for certain violent crimes? This is deeper shit than you realize. You're right there is no conspiracy. A conspiracy is carried out secretly. This is being done blatantly right before your very face. But you and so many others are igging it...Iggy. The justice system coupled with the prison system is holding down your population and oppressing your black community and all you can do is sit there and make jokes about it? You really sadden me. [HDYT]x6DsXO4DJr8[/HDYT] The following quote is the damn truth Iggy...
Portugal decriminalized all drugs and it's been a major success after five years. There were inital fears relating to the manner at hand when it comes to decriminalization - increased usage, violence, etc...but reports documented from the CATO Instituted proved otherwise. Here's a quote from the article: Even in countries like the Netherlands, one of the liberal countries in the world practically decriminalized all drugs and the effects are the same - crime and substance abuse dropped dramatically. So really, the idea that "drugs are bad" is inane and thus penalization of drugs only makes things much worse.

you supported what I have been saying in my story along with this video on msnbc with al sharpton, jeff johnson and ben jealous. just find the video that has those names on it and watch http://newsone.com/newsone-original/boycewatkins/cornel-west-sharpton-fighting/?omcamp=EMC-CVNL
GL, I did just that and I am so glad I did. Thanks for telling me. I looked up Ben Jealous and found a video which was recorded on April 7, 2011. After watching it, I felt that I should post it here. A lot of insightful and horrible things are reveal in it and judging from the "so what" attitude that many have, maybe they will see the seriousness of this issue. Personally, I am glad to see more whites beginning to speak out on this sinful situation. Because until whites start speaking out, nothing will be done. Blacks are always viewed as whiners and often ignored. Then there are not enough of them that want to rise up with marches and boycotts which are very effective tools for change. This is the one thing I like about my man. He is a fighter for change. He is very concerned and compassionate about the crisis of the African American community and he has passed this on to me also. Some people think that a black man can't be involved with a white woman and still fight the injustices against black people, but that is simply not true. America only has 5% of the world's population. Just 5%. Yet, America has the largest prison system in the world...bigger than that of China. Over 40% of that is black men. The majority of black men in prison are there on NONviolent charges and doing way more time than a man who commits crimes upon women and children. The laws are a net which is designed to "catch and keep" minorities for a longer period of time than they do whites which commit white collar crimes, pedophile crimes, etc. The money being made is in the billions. Believe me, if the government was LOSING money, it would not be imprisoning a man for 20 years for selling just 10 pounds marijuana. The conspiracy laws in place permit them to imprison innocent people without being challenged on it. Thus, many blacks are in prison are serving time for crimes that they themselves did not even commit. Thanks to Clinton (the black man's president LOL) the 3 strikes you're out bill has some blacks doing 15 years in prison for stealing a bicycle...not rape, not robbing a bank, not beating a woman to death...but for stealing a bicycle. Anyway GL, here's the video. It is definitely a must see for anyone who really wants to know why this is not funny at all, but a very serious issue concerning the plight of young black men in America. [HDYT]46X8ClRmDvg[/HDYT]
over all awesome post. it is funny people say BM lose their "blackness" if they are in an IR. It is completely hog wash. fredrick douglas was married to a white woman
