Al laid it out plain and simple. You got to many people blaming obama for not doing THEIR JOB. not Obama's job. their job. It is up to you to get your congressman to fix the condition and not Obama.

I can say the same thing for the incarceration rate. Want to fix it? get your congress person and the rest of congress to vote for the bill that YOU wrote up.

yeah i stated in another thread with a story about blacks getting incarcerated for the same crimes as whites. blacks get jailed faster than whites for the same crime. see al sharpton, jeff johnson and ben jealous video and tap on that and it will talk about it. where bm can get busted for crack and go str8 to jail where white men for the same crime get treatment before he goes to jail.

If people were to make a bill and pass it that specifically says to send drug users to a rehabilitation center instead of prison. We wouldn't have this much issue. I guess american isn't sick of wating tax dollars yet!

    Okay

Okay, I found an unused thread where we can hash out the political argument without it metastasizing all over the forum in general. Let's migrate the argument about left v. right to this thread and leave the rest of the forum in peace. Whaddaya say fellas?

And, taken from the other thread:

And Arch, he wasn't calling you a dumb shit, he was saying you are on some dumb shit. Maybe not pleasant, but more clowning you than a direct attack. Like saying you're being silly.

And dWebPro, let's pull back from the brink a bit.

Seriously everyone, let's have the debate without getting too heated. I argue about politics for a living, so I don't want one of the few forums I have with like-minded people (on some issues) to become another zone of contention.

Fair enough sir and thank you for getting what I was saying.

To the matter at hand I do wonder why so many blacks, men in particular, are quick to jump on the blame blackie band wagon. Thoughts? Comments?

I think the conservative movement is just as guilty of looking for easy scapegoats and culprits as they accuse liberals of looking for 'victims'. No one wants to address the complex interplay of factors that lead to criminality (including lack of access to jobs, etc) and it's very easy to just sew it up into a nice little bundle and call it 'personal responsibility'. In my view, that's far too simplistic.

Fixing the problem would force them to acknowledge their part in it. The only way I see things getting better for us as a group is business ownership and a strong focus on education

Especially this. Educated poor people often live better than uneducated poor people in terms on what they're able to accomplish, stability of social structures, etc.
