I decided to start this thread for two reasons...the first is that in the Miss Ireland thread, it states her boyfriends name as Manners. Which amuses me greatly. And recently there was a cute baby competition in our local newspaper and one of the babies in the comp was called Aqua Waters. I laughed so loud the neighbours heard me. The second is...I just love shaking my head and laughing at weird names. Another... Edward 'Bear' Grylls has three boys Jesse, Marmaduke and Huckleberry. :smt009 :smt005 So, what stupid (real) names have you heard?
I once dated a guy from Mississippi - his name was.. wait for it... wait for it.... wait for it... Colon Berry... Now , who the hell would name a kid like that??? I also had a girl in my class when I taught human anatomy named: Ho The (Vietnamese) Imagine the roll call.
Hahaha! Poor kids. I don't know what parents are thinking when they name their kids like this. Oldies that still make me laugh are Frank Zappa's kids Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet Emuukha Rodan & Diva Muffin smt081 sounds like a cat's name)....AND the Phoenix familiy; River Jude (RIP), Rainbow Joan of Arc, Leaf Joaquin, Liberty Mariposa (the writer in me loves this name for a character) and Summer Joy. :smt104
Shit, wasn't there a story on here not so long ago where this guy named his two kids Winner and Loser, and Loser was very successful while Wnner was the opposite.
A friend was telling me about a new guy at her work. Said she saw his name on things, Richard Nutt. An office event came up and he came up and started talking to her and said hi my name is Dick Nutt. She said she just reacted and laughed out loud. She was so mortified by her behavior she tried to avoid him the rest of the time. Must add one of my pet peeves is when people take common names/words and spell them the most ridiculous ways you can't pronounce, for their childs name. Most recent was Chozyn.
I've posted this before, but it bears repeating... A teacher colleague had a student once whose name was T-A, pronounced TaDashA. Yes, you SAY the dash.
Poor kid probably felt compelled to prove his name wrong. Oh my! Was she a tranquil person? LOL Hahahaha! Oh dear, I would have laughed too. And yes, people creating new spelling for names or words is one of my pet peeves too. LOL Chozyn! :smt107 Wow. Just wow. I have a friend whose best mate is named after a dwarf from Lord of the Rings....Thorin. Weird as. However he apparently quite likes his name. That's bizaare. Is that the name of an object or a brand or something? I don't even know how someone would think of that name. LOL Ok, this is my favourite so far. :smt042 :smt042 People are INSANE!!!
There were two East Indian brothers I went to school with - one of the brother's name was Suhkdeep and the other Suhndeep.
Yeah, that's right lol I couldn't remember for the life of me. You are the grand prize winner of a new shiny spatula emblazoned with wwbm on the handle
I had a chinese friend with that last name. I loved it because we had a teacher that would refer us by our last names. My last names actully means something so it annoys. I was thrilled when he had to figure out something else to call him.
I attended high school with a guy whose first name was Eunice. I once went to see a dermatologist whose name was Dr. Whitehead. A friend of mine in grad school had a gynecologist with the name of Dr Hole. Lastly, my niece, who's a RN, told me of a young woman who decided just after the birth of her daughter that she would name her Vagina, because she liked the sound of it. The young lady was clueless as to the definition of the word. She was convinced by staff at the hospital to reconsider the name.
a friend of mine from minneapolis was telling me about a woman not from this country named her daughter pajama...she pronounced it paj a ma...
