2012 is going to be the year of abundant fuckery.

Ya know it...I was at a conference with a bunch of lobbyists, like the former communications manage for Newt; the shit that goes on is just funny and sad. They called exactly what was going to happen with the budget battle, for example.

    Obama is our best option.

The health care bill is a pile of shit.

Can't blame you for saying that. But as long as there are conservative think tanks and conservative ultra-capitalists holding sway in Congress, it's fundamentally harder for any progressive measures to get passed without some people on the right to bend for moderation. But, at least the bill is a decent start. Shame a public option wasn't implemented, otherwise it would help reduce the cost of health-care overall.

The concept was/is good, but the execution is horrible. For example, a small business can drop all coverage for its employees and be hit with only a $200 fine. The fine was supposed to stop small business from dropping people, but instead, now we have a small business going...hmmm $200, or a shit load of liability...

The enrollment on the "high risk pools" have also been horribly weak, with insane premium amounts, and the exchange program is going to be the biggest expansion of medicare...

What revisions do you think should be made towards the health care reform bill? I think it's going to be a key topic that will arise throughout next year. Since it's going to take effect in 2014, I think that 2012 will be a critical, pivotal year for the reform.

In addition to that, race relations are going to be a topic as well.

It's been watered down by the conservative part of the spectrum in the Senate (Conservative Democrats and a lot of Republicans). If the Democrats unified for this particular bill, despite possible losing ground support when they had a 58+2 Senate majority, then we would have the public option and federal funding for abortion to name a few. This would curb the cost of Medicare and the health insurance industry altogether.

With the topic you've posted, it will be one hell of a fight and I think illegal immigration will be the main point of discussion.

As much as people might want to change the health care bill, its not gonna happen, not anytime soon. There is no appetite, and the full roll out will depend a lot on the state healthcare exchanges where the wisdom goes that a lot of healthy people will be forced into the pool, driving the premium prices down and making the less disrable insureds palpable as part of the pool. Current evidence suggests otherwise. Like BBW said the Dems needed to have grown a pair and pushed for a more streamlined single payer for profit government run option to compete with the insurance companies. My concern now is that a lot of the public are going to be forced to buy expensive insurance. This bill is so piecemeal and has so many moving parts that it is really hard to wrap your arms around it. For example, the expansion of medicare is being paid for by rate cuts in medicare, with the expectation that volume will drive up the related loss of earnings. There is a lot of similar conjectures through out.

    Uhhhhh....how do you know this??

Based on what she did in the primaries, she'll stab Obama in the back in a heartbeat.

Flaminghetero needs to view this. I know it sounds weird, but I'm for and against illegal immigration. I can explain why I'm for it, but also why I'm against it, so really I have no stance on it. Anyhow, you need to view this. (Taped on April 4th, 2011)

I don't wanna explain why because illegal immigration is a touchy subject. What I would say about the matter, is that it's like a double-edged sword. If we don't let them into the country, there are advantages and disadvantages of doing so. If we let them into the country, there are advantages and disadvantages of doing so. So in the long run, it's hard to tell what is really the better option to do. That's why it's hard for me to have a stance on illegal immigration. I would just explain both sides arguments about the same thing and leave it for someone else to judge.

There are NO advantages to letting in MILLIONS of:

Uninsured..Uneducated...Undocumented...Unemployed...Unwanted.....Unvaccinated......Illegals into this or ANY Country....

Mexico sure as hell isn't doing it...and if they did...the same illegals in America would be PISSED.

C'mon now fella'....it's time to THINK FOR YOURSELF.
