It does have historical weight when calling a woman a cunt. Sure, ethnic slurs like nigger can cause a politician or big name public person to lose their career, but sexist comments like cunt, they would more than likely still have a job although they would lose a lot of credibility.

Anwyay, back on point, when you use the word cunt, it reinforces that psychological mindset that women are generally considered pieces of meat and nothing more. That's a standard of feeling low. Also, when talking from a linguistic frame of it, coupled with the psychological reaction, it's a dirty word. Still, they all are words in the end and their power are only as strong as you allow it.

The way they act.
