Its not just about what it says but how its practiced fam. It says a lot about a religion when in its text it says that jesus was a man of bronze skin and hair of wool yet every popular dipiction of him is nordic looking man with blue eyes.
    Just saying..

Ok so let me get this straight its dumb to hang out with people who call you nigger to your face but its ok to hang out with people who don't say it but treat you like one?
My overall argument is all of the popular religions treat black people like shit or at the very least overlooks them.
Whether it be islam saying to idolize arabs or christians pushing false imagery of "our" savior to further promote white supremacy.

    Exactly.

What Jesus looked like has no bearing on the practice of Christianity. The wool description comes from Revelation 1:14 ("His hairs were white like wool" to be exact) & it it wasn't necessarily about His physical description. It also says in the same text that His eyes were like fire & His feet like brass, & it was all symbolic; not literal.

The only place that refers to His looks is Isaiah 53:2 which says nothing about His race.

There are many artists who depicted Him as blonde with blue eyes which was highly unlikely for many reasons. The point though, is that what He looked like makes no difference when it comes to who He is & what He represents.

    Correct again.

You're pretty much on point on everything you've just said. Religion isn't non-discriminatory as people may proclaim because, after all, it IS a business where they have to acquire and accumulate new followers to keep themselves afloat, even if it means referencing that those who don't follow their faith are "evil" or "lost". It's self-empowering psychological mechanism to the sheep who covet in their bloody mess of convoluted irrational logic.

One thing people here tend to overlook regarding the "historical" account of Jesus is that there's no real evidence outside of religious accounts pointing to his existence, especially with all of the absurd supernatural references implemented there. If anything, based on how Christianity started, [tacked on books based off of the Torah with pagan ideas implemented] it wouldn't be far fetched to proclaim that Jesus could be nothing more but:

    A) A collection of people/hustlers who claimed to be a prophet.

    B) A single person or a collective who never had any affiliation with Christianity, but rather (a) worldly scholar(s) who traveled to promote spiritualism.

    C) Just a symbol of an institution wanting to give people a sense of hope.

Spoken like an out of touch white person Tam. Fine Jesus was depicted differently than I stated but let's use science( I know the Christians hate that). He was of middle eastern descent over 2000 years ago before any European influence in the area so its more likely that Jesus resembled. Osama bin Laden than Charleston Heston. And the dipiction of your so called savior being a white person definitely suggests a type of white supremacy. Only through someone who looks like that will you receive salvation and absolution, only through someone who looks like that will you enter the kingdom of heaven.
If what Jesus looks like doesn't matter go and try replace the current dipiction at a local church and see how many will call it blasphamy. I enjoy the teachings of Christ as much as the next peace loving guy but I'm well aware of how Christianity was brought to black people. It was forced on us through slavery and imperialism. It instilled the same white patriarchy that was mysognistic towards women until the 20th century and believed all blacks went to hell and that being black was a punishment from God.
With all that being the histroy I don't see how blacks follow that any more than flame sees how they follow Islam.

I've often wondered if the Jesus thing is a scam. The teachings are incredible and maybe someone who understood how stupid the masses were figured they needed something to unify around in order to promote the message of peace and love. Which is an awesome message but I do notice that hippy movement was laughed at because the same message Christians were promoting with out the fear was percieved as stupid. If you have a chance read conversations with God book 2. There's a very interesting take on that in there.

The best explanation I can give is that Jesus could be derived from the "Previous Savior Theory" in which prior to Jesus and Christianity and other Abrahamic religions, there were other beliefs which had deities or deity-like figures who basically shared similar experiences. I guess you can say that Jesus is based on amalgamation of gods and goddesses from other beliefs.

Yeah I think the legend of Osiris has something like that but despite the validity of the story the message is amazing

So you're telling me I'm out of touch because I'm not like the white people who think Jesus was white & because I know Christianity is NOT based on race? If being out of touch means I don't agree with the idiots who think those things, that's fine with me. There is no doubt in my mind that Jesus was NOT white, but the truth is, it doesn't matter what race He was. For those who think it does, regardless of whether they are white or black, they don't understand the true meaning of Christianity. Man's SOUL is what was created in God's image; not his physical body, so anyone believing you have to look a certain way to be a Christian is full of shit.

I've studied Christianity & Islam in great depth, so I know & understand the basis & details of both. This is not some random crap I'm throwing out there.

I called you out of touch because you said it doesn't matter when it very much does. If you had said it SHOULDN'T matter then that's a whole new ball game. Christianity may not have originated to be race based but it sure as hell is practiced that way. I know every single white christian isn't racist but its interesting how every white racist happens to be a Christian. Something to think about.

Of course. But here's the thing...the promotion of peace and tranquility have always been a secular thought and began as such, and it took the majority of civilization to work and act together in a uniformed society. Religion took the message, but moreso as a means to control and manipulate the public so that few people can benefit from its ideas.

People were just too superstitious way back then, and even today people still hold superstitious ideas. Why and how as spirituality survived for so long? People just love the thoughts of magic, mysticism, and spirituality. It's engraved into the human psyche to express fascination and love for such things.

The point is, to a REAL Christian it doesn't matter. Anything with any basis in hate, is NOT real Christianity.

To be a Christian simply means you accept that Jesus is a supernatural, divine figure and as your savior. And as long as you adopt that, none of the other thoughts matter at all. This is why all branches within Christianity are labeled as part of the Christian doctrine. And furthermore this is why people act on their bigotry.

It's one thing to say that a person is to be Christ-like and another thing to be Christian. So if anything, being Christ-like is what you should be proclaiming.

I've been in debates like this before. If there's one thing about living in the Bible Belt is that you can hone in your arguments since the masses are part of the Bible-Thumping society.

I'm not going to get into what I believe or why I belive it. Don't tell me what matters & what doesn't when you don't know the what or why behind my beliefs. Christianity is not the all encompassing thing you describe it to be; someone slapping the Christianity label on something doe NOT make it so.

I'm not slapping a label here, dear. That's just fact. If you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, then you're adhering to the Christian label. Can you call yourself a Christian without believing that Jesus is a divine figure? No, otherwise you'd be adhering to one minor component of Judaism.

I wasn't necessarily talking about you being the one label slapping. I was referring to the groups such as White Supremists & the like who call theselves Christian, but the doctrines they teach DO NOT come from the doctrine of Christianity. Just a fact, "dear".
