Meh, a lot of things went wrong with the project, most obviously the animation, but I put sooo much work into it so I decided to share. I wasn't responsible for that shitty animation, btw. lol I mostly did post edits plus the sound effects and the actual editing and compositing. And my lighting
That was pretty good actually. I mean, ya' gotta' start somewhere and whoever did the animation, it looks like a good starting point at least. If it gets fleshed out somewhere, i'm sure it would be epic. I especially liked the music; really gets a person charged for a good fight.
The animation may be a little off in some spots, but overall it's really good. The music was a perfect fit, too. :smt023
Thanks! Honestly I wasn't so happy with it until I put it on a 3d book, but that's because the print I did myself a few months ago just looked horrible thanks to crappy printers here at school. If it's a paying job, I accept! lol If it's not, then we'll have to discuss it in a few months. haha
What software did you use to make all that? I'd like to experiment that program. That was so good! I like it Persephone!
Wow, What a story.......and what a commemoration for Cindy dog.....It might not be too late to open your own studio Persephone........
hmm. We used 3dStudio Max for the 3d modeling, texturing, lighting, and animation. I used Adobe After Effects for the compositing and editing. If you want to experiment with 3d animation both 3dsMax and the other Autodesk program Maya would serve you well, but the learning curve is really steep (and Max and Maya work different. Max uses polygonal modeling, Maya can as well but works better with NURBS...don't ask what NURBS are, I never fully understood it. lol). Everyone I've talked to in my classes all had that moment where it finally clicked, but it took anywhere between a few weeks to a few months of immersion in the software for the click to happen. Prior to that it was like studying Chinese to most people. The ones that took more than a few months to click aren't in school anymore. Or are still taking the "easy" classes over and over and over. One kid started with me. I'm about to graduate in 3 months. He's still 2 years behind me as of now. I've heard programs like Cinema 4D are also good, but honestly, if you're wanting to learn animation you're best starting in Adobe Flash. That's just 2d, though, but having a foundation of 2d makes the transition to 3d a lot easier. All of the aforementioned programs are expensive as hell, though. You can always go for a trial version, but if you want it cheap or free see if you can find a student copy. Not sure if you have to be an actual student to use one or not, but it's worth a try. then there's also the other options that don't get one a legitimate copy, but it's still a working copy. Some students find illegal drugs. Kids in my classes find software. haha. Every year when Adobe and Autodesk upgrade their shit you'll have kids running around saying "You got that Max 2011 yet?! I got that shit! You want it?" the day it's released. haha ohhh, I just thought of something. Get a copy of 3dWorld Magazine. It's like 30 bucks or so a copy, but each issue comes with a cd that's loaded with freebies and tutorials...often there are full 3d programs loaded on the discs. You could get a legitimate copy of a program (though you can choose unless you have back issues available and you will not be seeing max or maya on there ever lol) and introduce yourself to 3d that way at a steep discount. I love that magazine...we've got like 600 bucks worth of software alone (with two issues), not to mention the invaluable tutorials. For more information on Max and Maya visit http://www.autodesk.com oh, and thanks for the compliment. lol I'm really not happy with the way the animation turned out (or the lighting), but at least that project was better than the other one that got turned in. lol
awww, Thanks saty. Haha, I'm always interested in legitimate copies of anything you ever see me mention. Adobe CS 5 full suite (Or at least Design, but those bastards don't put After Effects in there -_-), Autodesk 3ds Max 2012 (they'll be releasing it soon! >.< ) and Maya 2012, zBrush.... Really, though, what I need is to upgrade my hardware. We're working on that now. We have two laptops between us that were purchased at the beginning of our educations, and 4 years later they're both crap. Especially mine, since she's a low-end Dell. But until I get better equipment it's difficult to upgrade or put any new software on these dinosaurs lol Apparently my school donates all our old machines to some super computer goodwill place...plan on hitting that up as soon as I get my money right. If nothing else, maybe I can get a desktop outta my mom as a graduation present.
Oh, it's never too late! It just takes time, money, and a huge render farm. lol I think I'm a good director, though, so it's definitely one of my goals. Cindy dog was a very sweet doggie, too. I had the pleasure of meeting her a few times before she had to be put down. She was so gentle...and she was large even for a German Shepard. She was old, though, and when the vet put her down I'm sure it was the best thing for her.
Persephone, you are so diverse in so many mediums - I'm impressed. The dog is so soulful, and your 3-D work is just amazing! I did so horribly in digital media class. There are so many ways you can go with your talent, and I love how enthusiastically you pursue your passion. Hope you don't mind but lipstick turned me on to the creative writing thread, and I saw this one for art, and thought I'd post a few of my own...
Thank you Jordan - I agree. It's nice to have a space where one's hard work can be noticed. Now, can anyone tell me how to make my pictures bigger? I'm not as technically sophisticated as some of y'all lol. Persephone, where were you during my digital media class? I would have been sitting next to you for sure.
