22 Human Resources' 'Secrets' http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/life/22-secrets-hr-won-t-tell-you-about-getting-a-job-2461178/ some of them arent secrets at all, but the article was an interesting read nonetheless. Of course, this is opinionated, as every single HR hand in the country has not chimed in on such topics.
well you already know what I go through. We don't deal with HR. The senior engineers are the people we talk to.:smt042
Wow, that article is depressing. :smt009 However, a lot of the points in it depend on the field you're wanting to work in (or currently work in). This one disturbed me the most... That, quite frankly, is just plain stupid. Seriously stupid. Any company as moronic as that is not one I'd want to work for. There are many reasons why someone might have been unemployed for 6mths and few have to do with being passed over by other employers. Again, the people who think that way are fucking stupid.
Or had been overseas, or had been ill, or had a child, or chose not to work and then ended up having to get back into working again. There are so many reasons.
too many graduates, not enough jobs simple as that this economy doesnt help either it also doesn't help to be 'fat' and unattractive, but we already knew that one of the 60 minute-type shows did a report on that before
even when u have a job, ur not safe. unless you have a strong union, you have to have eyes in the back of your head. my only suggestion is that people get out of their comfort zone, and take another job instead. Sanitation workers make a good living, as with other jobs that aren't really chased after by college grads. You just have to remember that being unemployed over extended periods, is WORSE than anything in the eyes of hiring staff. When a more suitable job opens up, then you leave but take the valuable time on a job with you, to your next interview.:smt045
Damn so much for the American dream. But certain industries will need people and no everyone is inclined to do them. They are making it more difficult to make ends meet though. Someone in accounting with a masters used to be able to make 70k easy coming out of grad school now its 45. In NY 45k barely covers your living expenses and you can forget about entertainment. You have to get a second job just to be able to save. It's fucking crazy.
