The government covers the scholarship since this particular degree is crucial for maintaining the security of our nation. They also give you a $12 to $15,000 stipend for housing, so it may be little to no money that they have to contribute to the education.

Syracuse and Georgetown are private schools, which means the cost of housing is higher, and hits harder into the stipend that you get in the scholarship.

Have you visited them? That's the only way you can really make a decision. I went somewhere I didn't think I would end up....I visited the campus and just *knew* that's where I needed to be. It isn't rocket science.

    Good luck. :)

Thanks. I'm pretty confident I'll be fine when the time arises to make a decision on what colleges I'd apply to/where I'd be going. I'd just have to make sure my GPA is at a 3.2 or greater. I'll be able to get beyond it.

exactly , done get caught up the NIKE schools. it really depends on the degree. If you get in the sceince field and wanted to go to a NIKE school then choose MIT after that stick with what YMRA is saying.

If you are going into law or something or politics then go to a nike school.

    basically

when someone sees a nurse, they see a nurse

they dont see RN, BSN, or MSN

they dont see University of Penn, Harvard, whatever

just getting the degree from a good accredited school in your area is good enough. Penn State isn't Ivy league, but it's a reputable school at a fraction of the price that you would be paying for a private institution. Same with Rutgers or Temple.

hell you can go into politics without an ivy degree. Our current mayor is a Temple Beasley School of Law grad. If you plan on becoming the next president or some shit, then yeah you need to go to Ivy :)

real talk. if you want to be a CEO (there are exceptions) go to Harvard business school MBA program...it is world wide known. again, you can go to tuskegee , alabama a and m, athens state university, your momma university..as long as it is credited. it really depends on the degree. example why would you go to Harvard to become an elementary teacher. the return on your investment would not work. If you want to be a doctor you wouldnt go to skeeter university (despite the fact it is credited and cheap. you will go to skeeter for teaching)

please be aware Im trying to be an elementary teacher and you must be smart to be a teacher. Im just saying why spend a boat load of money to make 50,000 the most (not trying to be a principle) during your whole career.
Know the top . medium and low range of pay versus how much you will be paying for school along with other variables

i know, that's crazy. If you spend 100k+ on a private institution, at least come away with a six-figure job. It's all status-quo anyway. The people that go to those schools generally come from affluent families, and that's the kind of atmosphere they want to remain in. They don't want to go to school with poor kids from the ghetto.

    seriously man

just graduating from college shows employers multiple qualities you possess. the rest lies in your hands and the way you conduct yourself during the interview.

just because you graduated from Dartmouth doesn't mean you're going to put more on the line for the company, and be a lynch pin for your department. You might be a lazy mothafucka when it comes to working a j.o.b.

    :)

It's about partying and hot WW also. You have to have balance in college. It shouldn't only be about working out and doing your classwork.

    lol

i think i seen a clip of that from yahoo

reminds me of SAT scores from a highly-touted academic high school here (Central http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_High_School_(Philadelphia)) that gives out bachelors degrees (yes...a HS that gives out degrees), compared to other schools within the area that don't have the same rigorous selection process for admission.

late edit - point is the SAT scores on average weren't that much better than some local schools
