I was just reading about that Emmett Til case yesterday....instrumental in bringing about the Civil Rights movement of the time. The fact that Bryant and Milam admitted to the murder made it even more incendiary.

Absolutely did. The shame of the world was brought on Mississippi after that event and still those two got acquitted and turned around a year later and callously admitted they were indeed a couple of free murderers.

The Emmit Till case definitely was one of the sparks of the Civil Rights movement, because of its sheer dastardliness.

I think both the NAACP and Kid Rock are suffering from a chronic case of irrelevance.

Just so I follow, so since he had a black child that means he can't be a racist....just so I follow.

I like Kid Rock, but the celebrate of the rebel flag is utter stupidity. But the suggestion that since someone is banging a black chick doesn't mean they can't be racist is silly.

First off dumb ass if having black children and being cordial with black people from time to time means you're not racist then I guess that absolves all slave owners of any suspicion huh?

In this day in age I won't say Kid Rock is racist but insensative and ignorant of what the confederate truly symbolizes and the history it carries. Good try though. I'm waaaayyy smarter than you. Just thought I should inform you.

LOL, that was ironic to watch, a black man helping a neo nazi avoid getting an ass whooping. :)

Let's be clear one thing. America has made very little headway with racism the only difference its far less overt and far more subversive.

That video was bogus. The whole scene was as real as Pamela Anderson's boobs.

Indeed its now something less external and more internalized. Thing is this nation was so deeply entrenched in a hierarchical racial system for most of its history that it will take even longer to over come that.

When you can legally enslave people, say they are not fully humans under the law (a black slave was worth 3/5 of a person to the Southern State's representation in Congress under the 3/5th's Compromise of 1787), take away their right to vote in a nation that founded itself under the ideals of a Bill of Rights and yet didn't practice what it preached, that says it all.

Look at how some folks seem to be losing their mind about Obama, not saying all of them are racist, some may have legitimate grievances, but there are those who sure seem unable to control themselves, while Obama continues to speak eloquently and dignified in his dealings.

It started with the election process of him being called a Muslim, terrorist, questioning his birth as an American, Barack "Hussein" Obama. Despite all that he still won.

One can only imagine what is said behind closed doors by some folks, as long as they keep it there, fine by me, they will have to live with that mindset and hopefully it eats away at them daily.

As for me I'll keep living life to the max and enjoying the variety this world has to offer, bigots can kick rocks barefoot. I'm the kind of dude that respects other people and treat them how I would like to be treated likewise, that is until they are disrespectful in return then I'll flip the script on them.

I think it was the Missouri Compromise that deemed slaves 3/5 of a person in order to quell the voting power of southern slave owners but I think the main purpose of racial division is to keep the uneducated masses fighting amongst themselves while the rich takes everything and divides it amongst themselves. Poor whites never seem to notice that. Even black people who be sympathetic to their fear of the government can't align with them because of their obvious xenophobic and prejudicist behavior and as long as we're divided focusing on dumb shit like affirmative action and union battles the rich get a bigger piece of the pie.

The Missouri Compromise dealt with the spread of slavery into non slave areas in 1820, primarily the Western territories as America expanded. No state above the Arkansas territories extending Westward or 36 degrees parallel, could become slave states, with the exception of Missouri in yellow which would be included as a slave state, thus the compromise.

I agree with you that its all in the end about the rich getting richer, even back then it was the planters and elites that had much more at stake over the carcasses of the black man.

Representatives of the Southern States actually argued in the 3/5th's Compromise for blacks to represent a full person. All simply for the sake of taxes and number of representatives in Congress that benefited the Southern States. All the while in actuality blacks had zero political influence or power as slaves.

While they talked and talked, they all profited off of the backs of slaves who had no say in any of these policies, just being bartered like common cattle at a stockyard.SMH.

Just bs rich vs poor stuff. All slavery is the rich asserting their power over the poor and the poor helping them to do it. I wonder when it'll stop.

Very true, profits is the name of the game. Even among the richest league in the world the NFL, greed is getting the both of them, despite billions of dollars the league makes.

Its like no one can figure out the balance between profiteering and fairness. Maybe there is none.

Shit is crazy, pure greed. The best is these cats on TV complaining now on ESPN since the lockout and playing the fans like fools. Like I care about millionaires vs billionaires. I say eff them both.

In all honesty fans should say fuck em all and focus on hs and college level sports where the kids still love the game. No one loves anything they do anymore its all about money and avoiding liability.
