Thanks for the comment, BMJ. As an African-American, I have always noticed and thought that anti-African sentiment among African-Americans was odd. But there is also a disdain for African-Americans among some portion of the African immigrant community. That being said, I think that (in general) having their culture more or less intact and strong cultural expectations of success and supportive family structures also helps. It's interesting that (according to my London-raised Nigerian buddy) there is a similar bit of a disconnect between Africans and the British black community (primarily of West Indian origin).
Another difference is your so called "temperament". Clearly you guys can spontaneously -and readily obtain as much information regarding the world because information in north america is at your finger tips. Maps, history, its all there. Easy - pretty weather all year around! Course u have to deal w fires, earth quakes and mudslides and horrible traffic.....LOL.... Oh surfing and skiing the same day.. etc I lived on H-town with the 100 degree weather and over 90% humidity - this beats that erryday

Move to urban kenya and i am sure you will have a toilet with the seat on it and a septic tank that works, you might even have air conditioning
