k, let me break this down..

I cook all my food myself and can feed myself for about 10 bucks a day... but, I have the luxury to buy all the ingredients to do so at any given time. In the long run, that is clearly the cheapest way to feed yourself.

But, there are people that don't have that type of cash readily at hand at any given time. Thus feeding yourself cheaply becomes a luxury because you don't have that cash to be able to cook cheaply, so you are limited and therefore 99c menu etc is something that is available for you. Clearly you can buy ramen cheap as hell... is that better? No, its not. I kinda assumed people would know that that was a part of the bad food discussion.

I also assumed people got I wasn't talking about the average inner city family - there are plenty families that live on way way less than that and dont have a regular income. I was talking about the families this applies to. Im so tired of the "many not all" principle here.. just because its not something that is applied to all poor families doesn't make it a non existing problem.

I didnt make that shit up, that is something that is debated often and need to be fixed so that people can afford to eat healthy. It needs to be made readily available for everybody

and btw, northside - I clearly stated that I couldnt buy a house for 700K.
Also, fyi, I used to live on less than 9K a year, I know exactly how that is.

lol the families you speak of for the most part have foodstamps, WIC, and section 8 assistance. A 99cent burger ain't filling no childs belly. With all the preservatives and addictives added to that junk, your going be hearing "I'm hungry" in the next 5 minutes.

What a family spends in a day on fast food they could buy a weeks worth of "healthy" food.

FYI I never said you could buy a house for 700k... Wooooosaaaaaah

That's what I'm saying! DAMN $5 per a fish!? Jeez.

You still don't get my point, which is something that has been debated and is still debated and needs to be fixed.
Must be nice in your world where everybody has access to healthy and affordable food.

Like I mentioned before, access to healthy foods, such as affordable good produce etc is less available in poor neighborhoods and they usually have a higher density of fast food chains. Look it up. 100s of reliable links.

Quit defending this practice like this problem does not exist.

Edit: It appalling to me that some people are so ignorant to a very acute problem in this country.

I undestand where you are coming from but like I said, many of these inner city poor people you speak of qualify and are getting government assistance. Do you really think these poor people give a fuck about their health when the getting is getting good? Hell naw.

Didn't folks in New York throw a tizzy not to long ago when politicians started saying they were going to remove junk food and soda from food stamps?

    1) Have you seen the issues with government assistance and the food in the programs? Not often as good as you may think.
    2) Poor people not giving a fuck about their health, because they cant is the issue here my friend.
    That is my point...
Its a horrible negative spiral... bad food bad health.. bad heath insurance and so on..

Course they throw a hizzy over that - that is a part of the problem, as I stated before..... its easy, overly accessible in poor neighborhoods, taste good and is addictive, Completely understandable.
Why do you think there is more fast food chains in poor neighborhoods?? Should it be that way??

Long therm thinking in terms of health is a luxury many poor people cant afford.

What I discussed before is a part of the problem and accessible healthy foods should be a god damn right.

Im not a conspiracy idiot but it seems odd to me that the poor are burdened more so than any other people with this. Fast food chains is making a buck on poor people and then, they get more burdened by poor health and lack of insurance and so it goes on. Course fast food chains is making a buck on rich people too, but fact is that fast food chains are more abundant in poor neighborhoods and access to good affordable produce is less accessible.
It really irks me. Seems to me that more efforts needs to be made to rectify this negative spiral.

Well your right, I took in consideration your geographic location, population, economy, and staggering rent.... so I imagine things are much harder for folks around there so fastfood and all those other shitty products would be much more appeasing than going out my way for something "healthy".

Its fucked up, thats what it it.. people paying over 50% of their income in rent isn't helping..
I cant help it - it really pisses me off.
In my work, I see so much shit I want to just strangle somebody.
    It aint right.

You are incredibly patient my friend. Great posts.
And btw cheap fast food is absolutely easier to find and more filling amongst poor people. And again cost isn't just money its also time (macroeconomics 101). Two double cheeseburgers and a coke costs a little under 4 dollars and only costs minutes of your time to get it. Show where else you can consume an 800 calories meal for that little in such little time.

Well, my breakfast is that cheaper than that, with more calories. 1 1/2 cups of oatmeal, 6 eggs (4 egg whites), raisins and sunflower seeds. Buy everything bulk, very healthy, high protein, complex carbs and essential fats:)
