This is partially because of the unrest in Libya, but if the country ends up going to civil war, this will create a huge spike in gas prices, worse than what the 2008 levels were. Lets hope that it doesn't happen. http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/...isks-for-2012-contenders/?partner=rss&emc=rss http://www.myfoxboston.com/dpp/news/local/experts-you-could-be-paying-5-a-gallon-for-gas20110301
They reckon we are gonna be hit here too, with the average price going up by 10 pence a Litre which takes it to £1.40p a Litre that's £7.00 a Gallon. Which in your money is $11.32 a gallon Although to be honest at some petrol stations round here I'm already paying that:smt009
unfortunately America is a oil dependant nation and we can't do without so we are fucked what can we do but take it:smt102
I do recall that we could have been on a different system of energy in the 80s if it hadn't been for Ronald Regan. I'm not sure if you all are aware, but that was at the time when Jimmy Carter decided to display solar panels on the White House to promote energy independence and lessen America's demand on foreign oil. When Regan was inaugurated, he reversed Carter's policies and took the solar panels off. Our economy should be based predominantly on alternative energy sources now, such as solar, wind, and electricity. If you'd like to avert paying for gasoline prices then you should make a down payment on an electric car, which benefits your financial condition and the condition of the world we live in. The link is below. 2012 can be deemed as the year for the electric car, because many automotive dealerships are releasing electric cars out to consumers around the same timeframe next year. It's glad to see that America is attempting to make a step forward, because gasoline is a finite, volatile resource and we can't keep using it forever. We have already hit the "peak oil" point in 2010. The link: http://www.mpgomatic.com/2011/01/09/2012-ford-focus-electric-car-debuts/
I was chatting with a geezer while in a queue at the checkout in Sainsburys about the price of petrol a while ago (believe it or not I'm naturally social!!) any way the checkout woman butts in and says we should do our bit and take the Bus and it was people like us who never brought there own shopping bags further damaging the environment WTF! anyway I said "look love there is one Bus an hour! and that runs only semi close to me" "we can't all be as dedicated as you are to saving the world, I can see you're saving water by not washing your hair as well, but I'm just not that saintly" What a boring bitch! and yes I did ask for more shopping bags lol :smt019
Gas price continues to soar, may be Palin is right "drill here and drill now" lol, with all jokes aside, why are we struggling with issue like this in 2011? we continue to be bitches for middle east and other oil exporters...alternate energy?
Oh please stop complaining already. In Germany we pay 1.50 € for ONE LITER let me convert that for you guys: thats 2.08 $ for 0,21997 gallons .....
Two problems, one short term and the long. The short: The Middle East and North Africa are collectively experiencing higher rates of instability, as Arab populations push for political change. The long: As China and India become wealthier, their population will want the things (e.g. car, two-story homes) they grew up watching in western television and films. Over two billion people in Asia are burning petroleum like they never have before, because they're in the thick of their own industrial revolutions. Textbook economics: As the demand for a commodity increases, so does the price.
Yeah, it makes you worried about 2012. The ex-Shell president predicted that at some point in 2012, gasoline would eventually rise to being around $5 per gallon. I think that even if he's wrong, a huge increase in gasoline prices in the United States is inevitable in the future, such as 2013. People will be flocking to purchase the electric cars when they're released to get off of the dependence on gasoline. I'd be included in that number when I'd be done with college by 2014.
Damnit, if only Little Bush was still in office, he'd be plottin to invade already!!! Damn you, Obama!!
Last year's BP oil spill also comes to mind when I think about this and our heavy reliance on oil, coal and gas. It was a bad move (in my opinion) for BP to install the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico for a lot of different reasons.
:smt043 :smt043 :smt043 I love it, wish I could have heard it with my own ears you know what ladies, folks in the US need to shut the hell up - it's our own damn fault & we need to stop bitchin' & suck it up, by comparsion we have CHEAP fuel
LOL.. I was gonna say: Y'all should go buy fuel in Sweden, y'all would die - its about 2 dollars per liter.
Europe gets hit the hardest with fuel prices it seems, it's about 70% tax, oh well thats how it is. We've had a nice little moan up about it now and I feel better
I told you that I will NOT complain about gas prices over here anymore after I saw in person what you have to pay for just one liter Baby. DAMN!!! Sucks over there!!!
Well out it goes my idea to live in Germany for couple of years. If gas price is outrageous like that where you live, forget it. I enjoy my vehicle too much to catch public transportation.
