Davies violated the BYU Honor Code, see below. The code doesn't explicitly mention not having sex with your girlfriend, but it does fall under the general category I bolded above. And what the fuck is their problem with tea?! ____________ Rumor section I need to separate this section because the mere suggestion of something on this site is enough to make soft-headed people accept it at face value. He supposedly is expecting a child with his girlfriend, who is rumored to be Danica Mendivil, a volleyball player at Arizona State. Subplot: BYU has a great white hope named Jimmer Freddette, who fans hoped would lead the team to the Final Four this month. At best he is the next J.J. Redick, and at worst maybe the next Adam Morrison. In any case, the likelihood of BYU making the Final Four without their starting center who was averaging 11 points and 6 rebounds seems less probable.
This is his girfriend and they may end up marrying. So who is BYU or anybody else to make him sign a celibacy contract. The irony, they let a man marry a 13 year-old girl and practice polygamy in that state, but they won't let a BYU student drink a cup of coffee or tea, wow. Having said that, Davies knew the rules when he signed up...nobody forced him to go there.
BYU is actually owned by the the Church of Latter Day Saints, so their entire code of conduct is in keeping with the Mormon faith. I had a friend from high school who went there for a year before transferring, and she said that it was unbearable. If you're a student enrolled at BYU, you can't drink, you can't smoke, you can't have sex and you can't even live with a non-relative of the opposite sex unless you are married to them. You can get expelled for violating their fucking dress code. All of the rules apply for the duration of your enrollment even if you aren't taking classes during summer or winter break and even if you're outside of Provo. It's ranked well as far as academics are concerned, but I have no idea why a person who isn't a Mormon would want to go to school there.
Those mormons sure are prudish..especially when you consider that their "religion" was started by a comvicted felon and admitted con-artist.
I dont see the point in trying to instill rational or logic into the world of religious fundamentalists. They practice what they preach and then we get up in arms and feel they should water down their traditions like the rest of America, who by and large love to claim a religion.....just without all the work & attention to detail.
Exactly for the bolded part. I don't agree with, "They practice what they preach" though. I've known/know some religious people who are ex-sinners and yet have nerve to talk....
Organizationally speaking . Im only referencing the actual practices or policies that are at the forefront collectively. What an individual does being closed doors is anyones guess. BYU aint hiding this one bit.
