good advice. I started working out not too long ago and noticed that really all you need is a bench and dumbells to get in shape. you dont even need the long bar to bench press...just dumbells and a bench

OMG. your comments on this thread have made my day! I was literally laughing for 5 minutes. I agree, the brotha does sound intense.

By the way, my TKD instructor, 7th Dan, lifted weights and was quite fast. I understand that Bruce Lee lifted weights as well. I also saw no decrease in speed as long as I maintained my flexibility exercises.

For me after the third week I catch my rythym. Up to then I have to stay focused and set goals or I lose my determination easily.

    True

the photos I have in my albums are all from bowflex dumbbells, a cheap bench, resistance bands and bodyweight exercises. I've only been benching a bar for a good year now, but maintained my fitness without it.

to me there are 5 things you need to do to be in good shape:

    1) eat rite

    2) sleep minimum of 7-8 hours

    3) lift weights

    4) walk/jog=cardio (basketball, tennis, ect)

    5) spiritual and mental balance

    6) routine

    7) friends and sexual relationship

what I have seen and tell me if I am wrong is that the most important part as far as you body is eating and cardio...it would make your body look better when you lift.

There was a good quote somewhere that said it's not what you do for the time that you lift, but for the other 23 hours that you weren't.

You have to eat right, if you want to maximize your numbers and definition

    eating garbage just nullifies everything

I'm no expert, but as I've been told, this is what constitutes a healthier lifestyle as far as eating:

    Eat whole grains
    No junk/fast food
    No condiments
Eat plenty of fresh veggies and fruits
    No fried foods
Read the labels to estimate fat/caloric content

    Am I missing something guys?

That's about the worst thing on the list I have to avoid. I don't mind ducking the fast food and sweets....but I'm a dude that's big on mayo too. Hellman's. And every time salad comes up, ranch is a necessity.

I believe we were seperated at birth. I love ranch dressing. I use ranch dressing on my fries . sometimes I mix it with ketchup and dip the fries in it.

hell yeah. mayo is my weakness.

undercover brother to me is a classic. way underappreciated.
