There are many things I wish to know about Swedish women. Not that I have a list of stereotypes like most people usually do.But the only thing I know (not sure it is correct) is that you spend an awful lot of time on queue for a apartment.:D

I once dated a Finnish woman, who lived in Sweden and worked for a multi-national company too, she spoke six languages, did modeling on the side, and also belonged to a girl band. She also slept very little.

She gave me some scope of Swedish women, but I doubt her portrayal.

She resisted my attempts to be friendly with her white friends. She was bi-racial though. Sometimes, I still wonder why.

Swedes and Finns have an age old bone to pick... we ruled them for quite a while and there is still resentment for that. I wouldn't take a Finns word about Swedes for the truth... or vice versa.......we are still enemies of sorts.. Telling is the track competitions we have once per year.:)

But, yes, we stand in line for apartments for ages.....overload.....Its insane.

I see....I haven't forgotten that traditional music you blessed me with. Remember? It was awesome. I still go back to play it.There was something it stirred in me. Sometime, I might have to explore that Swedish heritage, and yours was a window into what lies ahead.

I know Sweden used to own Finland before Russia took over. I wonder would life be like had Russia had not defeated Sweden? I think it would not make much of a difference other than independence be many years earlier.

    Experience

I haven't had enough experience with Swedish women to comment intelligently. I kissed a half-Swede US native once, though...does she count? LOL. And dated a few German nationals in undergrad.

    Very impressive you know this.
Sweden ruled most of Finland from the 1300 century early 1800s when it was seeded to Russian Empire. They got their independence from them in the early 1900. Karelia was never recovered though and is still "Russian".
There was a "friendship" or "cooperation" between Finland and Soviet during the Cold War era, but really, how much of that was voluntary - when big bad Soviet is breathing down your neck and could take over at any minute.

Even the other Scandinavian countries felt the shadow of Soviet during that time - and even though we were not officially a part of NATO, we had NATO training grounds in the Baltic sea (in-officially of course)- served a great purpose for all involved - Soviet hated it I'm sure - we just looked the other way, we felt safe with them there.
Soviet submarines were caught in the Baltic sea frequently (even caught grounded HAHA), and all hell would break lose. Not so much with the NATO submarines:)

Sorry for the history lesson, I read a lot of history books - especially about wars and battles. I think its fascinating.

Okay, after this exchange, watching Noomi Rapace in the 'Girl' trilogy just isn't enough. Can anyone suggest the best time to go? Giving the frigid temps, I'm assuming summer is best?

Depends on which Swedish city you're rollin' thru. Generally, Jun-Aug.

Another thing, do the groundwork b4 you leave. Get on Facebook, and do some internet pimpin'.

    @Sockervadd

No worries, I'm not much of a pimp anyway. I'll reach out to my friends from other countries and see who has a contact in Sweden, so that I'll at least have a person or two to join me for a drink. I'm good flying solo, though. I do most of my traveling that way, and have met and made enduring friendships with people from other countries that way. I think Ras was just telling me to reach out electronically in general, not just to Facebook, LOL. Just give me a newspaper and a cup of coffee anywhere in the world and I'll be fine. Well, almost anywhere! LOL
