Oscar Noms 2011

We're talking about Inception, not the Dark Knight.

I saw "The King's Speech" today. It was surprisingly good. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did.

Do I think it's Best Picture worthy? Eh. Not really.

These are the 10 films up for Best Picture:

• “Black Swan”
• “The Fighter”
• “Inception”
• “The Kids Are All Right”
• “The King's Speech”
• “127 Hours”
• “The Social Network”
• “Toy Story 3”
• “True Grit”
• “Winter's Bone"

Of these 10 I have seen 6: Black Swan, Inception, The King's Speech, The Social Network, Toy Story 3, and True Grit.

I don't believe that the ones I haven't seen have a chance in Hell of winning Best Picture. However, I will still make an effort to see them all before the Oscars air in 2 weeks.

I would love to see Inception win, but I believe the race is really down to two movies: The Social Network and The King's Speech. Of those two, I'd prefer to see The Social Network win because I believe it's the stronger of the two movies.

Anyway, that's my assessment so far.

 

Natalie Portman wins best actress, groomed for success from the get go.

 

Well, that was a fairly boring Oscar telecast.

I'm not surprised that "The King's Speech" won, since it had been picking up momentum for quite some time.

Do I think it deserved to win Best Picture? No. I think there were other films that were more worthy: Inception, The Social Network.

I do believe Tom Hooper did not deserve to win the Best Director award for "The King's Speech".

Eh. Whatever. It's over. There's nothing to look forward to now, except Spring. LOL.

I wasn't too impressed with the hosts. I like them as actors, but they don't make good Oscar hosts. And dear God, Anne Hathaway's mouth is HUGE. (Please no jokes, LOL).

What a disappointing awards show all around. The speeches were boring. The winners were boring. There weren't any upsets. Blah.

 

It was a trainwreck. The stammering, sweating people giving these lame acceptance speeches were horrible. INDEX CARDS, PEOPLE. All these awkward silences. I thought poor Kirk Douglas was going to drop dead before he gave the award, he took so long. Charlie Sheen's eyes on a three day coke binge look better than Franco's, that cat needs to get some sleep, stat. Hathaway was beautiful and energetic, though. And Bale forgot his wife's name, damn. Inception got robbed and once again the twentysomething generation strikes out as old fogey King's Speech beats out the super-hip Social Network. So that's Conan O'Brien, Scott Pilgrim, and Kick-Ass in the flop column for the hipsters.

 

Lakers won today on the road.

Knicks beat the Heat on the road too. This revamped Knicks may pick up C. Paul or maybe Dwight in a few seasons.

The Oscar telecast is all good. The winners of the King's Speech forgot two people to thank:the subjects of the film King George VI and Lionel Logue. I thought Firth,the writer,or the director would mention them but did not. Hathaway and Johansson were hot in their outfits. The former's last dress was form fitting and slammin. I'm glad "Inside Job" won for best documentary and the director told the truth about the bankers who made this massive financial mess are not in jail.

 

And your point is?

 

The King's Speech must be all that and a bag of chips, got to check it out.

I guess True Grit must be holding it's own as well, Jeff Bridges is an underrated actor.
