I have to disagree Britain is definitely ahead in the arts world, we as a country are one of the best exporters of Art, Henry Moore, Caro , Antony Gormley ( if you don't know, Angel of the North Guy and US Event Horizon) and Marc Quinn some of the big names.

I really don't think you have a leg to stand on with that one, but the rest I'll have to just agree to disagree.

Satyr, I also disagree with you because our country operates on a free market system. In a free market system, the prices of products, salaries, foreign exchange values and taxes are determined by supply and demand. A disadvantage with a free market system is going to be income inequality, as you pointed out. What President Obama should do (and probably already has attempted) is to impose high taxes on high income households and provide subsidies/government incentives to people that are in the top 20% and in brackets below that. That's a critical thing that needs to be done for the health of our economy, but the Republicans refuse to enact a tax hike on high income households.

We have also not touched up upon addressing the nation's current deficit, which I believe is near $14 trillion dollars. That's why Congress has recently increased the debt ceiling. We are borrowing too much money from China and do not have a robust manufacturing base in this country. If we want to make America more competitive, we need more scientists, engineers, and people in technology-related fields in the future.

You can't get out of this by taxing the rich higher. You are going to have to tax everyone to get out of it and that would mean losing seats. so that is a no go.

Even if we went with the plan, it is unfair to tax people at a higher rate because they were successful. A proportion tax would be a better way to go.

I didn't say better than England. I know better. In terms of the visual arts, however, I think France has the edge on all countries. That said, no country has yet to produce a literary mind equal to that of Shakespeare.

My statement had to do with the output of blacks in the U.S., regardless of our history, representing a quality that has rarely be seen elsewhere. It is America and our struggle in this land that has made it so.

With a proportion tax in place, you'd want to tax everyone at the same percentage, regardless of how much they earn. Ok, that sounds reasonable. There would still be a heated debate in Congress about what the percentage should be. I don't think the people in Washington would be able to agree on the best percentage.

Are you saying that none of this would have been done had he not been elected as leader for the democrats? I thought Hilary was all for that too?

So Nancy does all the Donkey work according to you, but she's not President, anyway I thought she was that Bird who was pally with Bush?

Tired of hearing about the common man? well I thought the comon man was what matters, I'm sick of seeing people out of touch with reality running countries.
I think Government as we know it is in for a change, people are tired of people who know nothing of a normal day running there lives, there is more than just a barrier between these people and us now.
I say that of my own goverment too...

    Really??
Owing them alot of money, while at the same time they undercut your Export/homegrown Industries is not a great position to be in.

China's a bit of hogger at the moment, no wonder everyones worried, they are buying up Valuable resources in Africa and handing over the money with no entailments is making them attractive to sell to.
Making it harder for us all to get what we need, things are changing.

Hillary Clinton tried to do the universal health care during Bill's presidency. She failed miserable. so no, it would not have happened. They had already dealt with her and her game plan. Obama was new and was able to do it from his image of brining people together. Hillary's image had been already painted as a divisive person. I doubt she would have put as much money into the HBCU's as Obama did.

If she was president, she would not have been able to get the bill through. The president has little to no power in congress. She had been fighting for this bill since before Barack was a known candidate. It is more of her Bill than any one else's. You have got to be kidding with pallies. I have never seen a sincere smile with her and bush. She has called him a total failure! She treads on calling him a liar. She questions his competency. The list goes on and on.

I don't know how to respond to this. It is difficult because there is no definition of what the common man is. For us in the States, many of our politicians come from humble backgrounds. You do have your Bushes but there are more people from economically deprived backgrounds that are very similar to the common man.

I agree with this. I call this technique the donald trump technique. Donald trump went bankrupt but the people who he owed money to had to support him in order to get their money back. Same thing here. If we go down, china loses their money. lmao

The last part is the truth BUT WE HAVE TOO MANY LAZY americans! They went to continue to think this is the 19th century and do jobs that required little to no intel. For some reason, they are never surprised at how those jobs are the first to go.

Not many are willing to sacrifice for love or a relationship, it seems

How does one tackle an issue so complex? The balance between pragmatism and love. Is there any valid measure of quality of life, or can quality of life make you happy?

hmmm...let me think about this :D

People's options may be good enough where they currently are; some may already be in a relationship or wouldn't find it difficult to enter one if they so choose.

Yes, satyr, you made a good point. The weight people give there current options, and the availability, at the moment is important in their decisions.

I'd have to say somewhere where racial tension is less prevalent. I want to stay in the U.S.

I'd move to be with someone worthy, but the aforementioned is key in my decision.

solving the economic crisis in the usa is easy...stop buying "made in china" ...we need to seek out made in america products...if every american made the effort to buy just a few products that were made i america we could make a huge impact...
