I took this from another site. People are debating and saying the Confederate flag is not always a racist symbol, but one of Southern pride. I think it is complete BULLSHIT, and I continue to be amazed and disgusted by the ignorance of people. The was my reply:
Racist.,..enough said. Would we even debate this flag as racist?

I don't see how its "Southern Pride" when it excludes millions of the south. Just be real and say its white pride. At least be honest about your bullshit.

The sad part is that the swastika was around for thousands of years before the Nazi's stole it. It is actually a symbol of peace. It's amazing how one crazy group of people fucked up thousands of years of history for a few years of evil.

As for the Confederate flag thing- yeah, I'd call shenanigans. You want to show southern pride? How about a flag with a palmetto bug on it? Jeez.

    That flag represents slavery period!

"Far from a "peculiar institution," slavery was, as Confederate Vice President Alexander Stephens declared, 'the cornerstone" of the Confederacy. As such, it was protected even more in the Confederate Constitution than it had been in the proslavery U.S. Constitution of 1787".

Slavery was the protected law of the land and was to be the law of any future land the Confederacy would acquire. Their own constitution lays this out plain as day, so anytime someone argues that the civil war/succession was about "States Rights" or "economic inequities", just point out this clause in the confederate constitution.

Whereas the original constitution did not even use the word slavery, but "Person held to Service or Labour" which included whites in indentured servitude, the confederate constitution addresses the legality of slavery directly and by name.
Continuing the US government's prohibition of importation of slaves after the year 1808, which is in the Articles of the confederate constitution unlike the U.S. Constitution, the confederate constitution does make explicit the legal protection of owning slaves.
No bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law denying or impairing the right of property in negro slaves shall be passed [by Congress] The constitution likewise prohibited the Confederate Congress from abolishing or limiting slavery in Confederate territories (unlike the United States, where, prior to the Dred Scott decision, Congress had prohibited slavery in some territories). This did not necessarily mean that individual states could not ban slavery. However, section 2 of Article IV specified that "citizens of each State shall be entitled to all the privileges and immunities of citizens in the several States; and shall have the right of transit and sojourn in any State of this Confederacy, with their slaves and other property; and the right of property in said slaves shall not be thereby impaired".

I am stunned that in this day and age than anyone who has not been living at the bottom of a garden pond can argue that the flag is not racist.

Fuck the confedrate flag and what stands for! I heard of that rubbish BS b4"it is not racist it is a southern pride", fuck off with that BS. Any racist fuck with white pride and nationalist garbage needs to wake the fuck up..... whites has lost the country may be not to blacks but sure as heck to hispanics or even to Asians, might not be today but sure as heck in 50 yrs. Get this, the hispanics actually hate whites a lot more than blacks, the Asians are a lot more out for their own kind than blacks, they just dont show it to you, "respecting whitey and all" for the moment.... so any dumb fuck stormfronter, Nascar chaser, cousin impregnator who is pushing this garabge of ideaology of segregation and nationalist better wake the fuck up, at the end they're the one who is going to get fucked up their rear ass.

It is definitely racist bullshit. I don't know of any redneck around here who waves that piece of shit around who isn't racist. All that "the south will rise again" shit is nothing but racist rhetoric imo.

I have vendors all the time trying to peddle crap covered in the confederate garbage, & they don't understand why I don't buy it like everyone else does. I refuse to sell that shit in my stores; I don't care what everybody else does.

Both the confederate flag and the swastika are one in the same the way I see them. Wrong is wrong no matter how you try to phrase it.

lol as someone who actually lives in Texas and went to a school with a bunch of rednecks.....it's not racist.

I had white friends who had that flag somewhere on their car or around their house, they weren't racist at all.

These fuckers wore boots to school everyday, and walked around in camo 4 days out of the school week and they'd be in class talking to as many black people as I did.

  10. Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue won two elections because of the that stupid confederate flags... Heck, they named parks, schools and buildings after these traitors that fought for confederacy...

I say let the rednecks have their flag, it shows you who *not* to interact with. There's a black president now, they're hanging on to whatever they can

America's got worse problems, don't be distracted by a piece of cloth.

Yeah, I've been complaining about this forever, it pisses me off. But what can ya do? I guess, at least they switched it up (made it go the other way for the Nazis). And don't forget the Pentagram and the Seal of Solomon all these stupid gangbangers try to steal. :smt093
Why can't people get their own shit instead of stealing everyone else's? How hard is it to doodle your own symbol, really? Sheesh.

Yeah, keep telling yourself they're not racist. If they are not racist then at the very least they are ignorant as fuck. There are plenty of people up here in the Northwest that rep that ignorant flag under the quise of "Being Rebels" aka "I Say And Do What The Fuck I Want, When I Want" . Pretty much all these type of people here have no problems talking to or interacting with non-whites in a civil fashion when need be, but by choice they tend to stay away from non whites whenever they possibly can and usually have some ass out old school views about non whites. Just my experiences with them here that I'm stating, but being that I grew up in the south, I find it hard to believe anyone repping a confederate flag in the south today is not racist.

It is the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, so you can definitely expect to see more of the stars and bars over the next four years. The battles of Fort Sumter and Bull Run both occurred in the first year of the war and were won by the South, so they'll be celebrations. The historian Shelby Foote said that you cannot understand America without immersing yourself in the Civil War, so here's your chance.

Why should it be a surprise that these people don’t admit their true feelings? Since the time that African Americans were first on the shores of this country there has been a pattern of hiding the truth. Is it any wonder that after a few gains made by Black Americans during the 60’s and 70’s that we have seen them being slowly eroded through things like, “reverse discrimination”, and most lately re-interpretations of the 5th and 14th amendments? It’s never what it is, it’s the paranoia of Blacks or their efforts to deny them their rights. Then, when all else fails the fall-back position is that the desires of the majority should carry the day. That way you don’t have to explain anything, just deflect as usual from the reality. Also, don’t be surprised when they “enlist” confused and paid idiots to show support for their cause. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8hP...y&list=PLC67FCB91C4177164&index=14&playnext=2

Exactly what I was thinking, Tarshi. I'm horrified that that's an actual flag, to be honest.
