CHICAGO – Former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel was elected mayor of Chicago on Tuesday, easily overwhelming five rivals to take the helm of the nation's third-largest city as it prepares to chart a new course without the retiring Richard M. Daley.
The other major candidates — former Chicago schools president Gery Chico, former Sen. Carol Moseley Braun and City Clerk Miguel del Valle — had hoped to force a runoff but were no match for Emanuel.

This prediction comes at no surprise. People love the guy and well, whether you don't like him for personal reasons, now is the time to see if he can actually deliver for all Chicagoans.

Hated the field so I didn't vote at all. Actually went to voting spot where I voted for Governor, but they told me I had to go somewhere else this time. Took it as a sign. Rahm was foregone conclusion and had won by 9:00 CST.

If you put Pope John Paul II in charge people would call him corrupt just because of Chicago stereotype.
