Actually a few things wrong there, my friend:

    1. Isn't American English a language? Are you disregarding that part? Why simply go after one group of people with their names when everyone of all groups come up with strange sounding names? Skylar is a fairly new name and unusual and yet it's predominantly used by whites, yet you find it something normal? Contradiction pointed out there.

    2. I agree that names are basically comparable to that of a caste system, I'll give you that. But that's societal, thus subjective and dependent on the times, which I'm basically stating. Names are just names. It's societal conditioning that makes them "good or bad". I'm speaking from a philological standpoint more so than a current societal and sociological view. I think this is where we threw ourselves.

    3. And regarding surnames/family names? They have historical significance, but they are variations of given names from the past. Again, change in societal structure.

All of the above is just dancing around the obvious IMO. I'll bet you're one of those "race is a social construct" people too. Yeah, they're thinking that when you go in for that job interview, "He's not really a black guy, that's just a social construct." LMAO

This is exactly why peeps who know how America works withhold their knowledge.

PS: Skylar, Topher or names like that look good on a resume. Skylar sounds rich. When you shorten it, it's "Sky." Topher is short for "CHRIStopher." Instead of Chris, it's Topher. I fail to see the down side here. Try again please or better yet, don't

Too much discussion and I am really not in a great mood to read it all. Anyhoo, BBW although a strange and twisted fella, he is a bright kid. But gotta ride with Karma and Flamer on this one.

Name is a big laibility, first name or last name.
If you're a white kid happen to have a crazy name you can philosophize and intellectualize about it in college or work place, if all fails make fun of it.... and boom you get a pass.
But if you are a minority- you already stand out as it is and on the top of it, if you got a weird ass name, aint no fucker calling you for a job interview, and even by sheer luck you get a decent job, you best beleive you will have a hard time coz aint noone is going to take you serious. That is the way of the world.

If you're blk and got crazy name you better hope you are the next Shaq, Lebron or Kobe, then you can shut them all off, otherwise, you are ass is grass.

You've ignored when I mentioned how all this is societal, obviously. Yes, people will judge based on names, but it's more societal otherwise, people with Indian names, Arabic names, and Chinese names won't get into high positions though some would keep their native names instead.

And regarding Skylar and Topher, they're still unusual names and silly sounding. Why call someone Topher when Chris would've been more adequate? You're seemingly giving those weird names more of a pass because it's associated with something else. As for Skylar, may as well call someone Flower and Water too? Silly sounding by corporate standards, but in general unique.

Bruh, I dont know how long your audio is but I listened to it for about 2 mins. Anyhoo, a name is not a name. If that is what you think then you got lots of learning to do. Why do you think lots of Jews have changed their name in America-coz their name was preventing them from getting to top medical, law and business school.
Why do you think lots of 1st gen Asian Americans name their kid-John, Jeff, Greg, Amy, Kim, Jennifer- coz their name is going to determine their future.

Dont tell me you have not me an

I've already mentioned that in the audio response, my friend. Listen to the whole thing. I'm not disputing the importance of having a common name, as I've kept stressing that it's part of a societal means.

My boss is a good example of this. His Korean name is Jong Mingh, but he changed it to Joseph. I also think of all the telemarketers with their middle eastern accents calling themselves Adam or John or Travis when you know that's not what their real names are.

The video camera was probably running low on battery power.

Also, I have a concern to air out. If you watched closely around the 1:41 mark of the video and beyond, you could see a serious issue w/ how the black woman dresses. She wears pants that has some holes and damage with the fabric on it, and her shirt is tucked up a bit. That's disgusting for any woman to present herself out to the world like that in public.

It may not be staged, it could possibly be real:

Moms had 7 babies by the time she was 19...all by different men. There was an 8 year old girl who said she wanted to grow up to have a baby so she can get Section 8 housing...
