NAIROBI, Kenya – Four Americans taken hostage by Somali pirates off East Africa were shot and killed by their captors Monday, the U.S. military said, marking the first time U.S. citizens have been killed in a wave of pirate attacks plaguing the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean for years. U.S. naval forces, who were trailing the Americans' captured yacht with four warships, quickly boarded the vessel after hearing the gunfire and tried to provide lifesaving care to the Americans, but they died of their wounds, the U.S. Central Command said in a statement. ========================================================= I think two of them were missionary workers, passing bible to ppl and so forth since 2004 all around the world. Its time to end this madness. Send out a notice that if you are in the vicinity of any vessel in this area and make any hostile move, its shoot you out of the water time! why dont we wipe the shit out of these savages back to dark ages. Since we know where these pirates are based, and where they take those ships and hostages, it should'nt be too hard to identify where the thermobaric weapons should be used, if those pirate a-holes figured out they were putting thier families in danger, or the other people in those ports figured out that those bozos were endangering thier homes and families, I suspect there would be a serious decrease in pirate attacks. Time to bring the drones....
My thoughts go out to the family and friends of the couples. With that said, going out to the horn of Africa where the pirates browse the coast with a yacht to pass out bibles is asking for trouble. The yacht itself is a prize for the pirates. It would of been better for them if they avoided the area. These "retired" couples just expedited their deaths. There, I said it.
Im so sorry to hear about this incident and how you feel about it. Im sure that our navy and our marines will look into this and find a solution. I bet that next time, if there is a next time, it wont be too late for lives to be saved!! Im not in that department and I morn for those killed and their families. I wish I could make a difference but I can not. Sorry for that.
every time i see the title of this thread i have a little voice in my head say "arrr me matey" we here in australia often have problems with pirates
Somalia is a poor ($600 per capita GDP) and politically unstable country, and if I lived there I'd do whatever it took to feed myself and my family. Tragic? Yes, but it is not the job of the American military to protect citizens who want to travel around world on expensive yachts handing out Bibles.
