It reminds me of some story in the bible, although I might not really be accurately telling it, and might have it really mixed up, yet it is a story that ministered to me years ago about a woman of practical means that knew no city life, a woman sired, raised and toughened in the drudgery of everyday life on the farm, in the wild, yet in whom the city man found worthy , or found the love of a city man.

The story flows and strikes in me in a particular part, the moment I would call the moment of discovery. When the man looked at her weathered hands, and she also thought about her weathered hands, and the things she could accomplish with them, and when she also considered the soft and supple skin of the other competing woman in the city, she was discouraged whether she was match in competition for the woman of the city, matched enough to deserve love from this city man.

Yet, beyond the klieg lights of the city, beyond the obsession of fashion, competition, booze, and sex; something held the city man in awe of this rural woman. He knew when he saw her that he wanted the woman of practical means.

Now, I have never seen you, neither I have I seen your weathered hands , nor do I say you have weathered hands I speak more to your spirit and to your knowledge of the world that is beyond immediacy and fanciness of looks, or skin colour . I speak more to your spirit, your soul, and the way you weave your words and the depth of experience that shines forth in your comments and your bountiful generousity, and those words that continue to hold me hostage, even though I am very far away, yet the love of the mind is not restricted by borders, nor colour.
