That's Salvador, not São Paulo, these two cities are like 2000 km apart and they're very different, both ethnically and culturally, and people from Salvador are not welcome at all in São Paulo, they're even targeted by racist groups.

That sounds nuts, that is like saying as a black person you can't go to Idaho or Wyoming from Mississippi or Georgia.

What would be the basis for people from Salvador not being welcomed in Sao Paulo, would love to know. Obviously Salvador is a poor and mostly black state and Sao Paulo is a megalopolis with a large business and financial population, made up of those of European extract in Brazil along with Asian and other groups.

Salvador is the capital of the state of Bahia, the blackest state in Brazil, while São Paulo is the fourth whitest state in Brazil, so there is some racism involved but it's not just a racial thing, they actually hate everyone from the northeast, even if they're not black.
