    Your argument is VERY much convincing, but there's one little area you're overlooking: voice. It seems as though that vocals is a forgotten or neglected element of music instruments. After all, music instruments are based on sound. And pianos, string instruments, and what not didn't really exist up as long as the voice.

    And to answer your question, regarding Prince and MJ, they would both be classified as performers and not so much regarded as musicians. How? They both know how to play instruments, with Prince being much more versatile and varied, but he still has a certain style or character that makes him more of a performer than a musician.

    Prince is a member to the same religion MJ once belonged: Jehovah's Witnesses. Besides,with that much talent he is under no one's shadow.

    You still don't get it. Like I said, it's clear you don't know much about Prince.

    I wasn't comparing MJ to Drake & Lil Wayne...I was talking about using popularity & cd sales not being an indication of greatness.

    The last part of your post is just silly (no offense), & I don't think there'd be any point in taking the time to explain it to you.

    Even if Prince never took to the stage as a performer ,he's talented enough to have a career writing and composing music for other artists. He's capable of doing this at a very high level. And he could do it in multiple genres. He's written tons of hits for other artists already. This is what makes him, at his core, a pure musician imo.


    Prince's talents across the board are actually quite formidable. As many unfamiliar with him are discovering now that more of his stuff is available on youtube.

    Read the back of a Prince LP cover, like 1999;

    "Written, produced, performed, recorded and sung by PRINCE".

    He played ALL the instruments on his biggest albums. MJ was a great performer and pop vocalist, but Prince is the combination of Quincy Jones AND Michael Jackson.

    Prince is more talented IMO because of his instrumental musicianship. He's still regarded by many as the most unsung rock guitarist in pop music.
