Was the banning of the burqua in France really for security purposes or was it a undercover racist move by the french goverment?

Western women in muslim countries have to abide by muslim law and cover their heads..

    Is that racist?????????????

Funky ass muslims want to enforce their laws but don't want to abide by anybody else's.

They don't belong in free Countries.

You know, I'm not really sure.

To some extent, I agree with the idea of 'When in Rome' that most of us practice when we go overseas....i.e. no bare shoulders in cathedrals, etc.

I think France has an image that they would like to keep, and a large Muslim population covered from head to toe so as to be unidentifiable impacts that image. Also, imagine trying to be a police officer and having no idea how to find a woman in a brown burqua. It's a nightmare.

I see why they did it, and they aren't banning Islam per se, they're banning something that they find outright offensive in their culture- kind of forcing the 'when in Rome' ideology. I mean, it's not America, so viewing it through that lens is unfair...but I suppose it is unfair to say 'Wear this to fit in or else you go to jail' (much like women weren't allowed to wear pants in public once upon a time).

It's not an easy question to ask or answer.

Wo wee!! :rolleyes:you are hard on the muslims.... however you are absolutely right they should abide by France's rules of goverment therefore is not racist and should abide just as my woman would abide in their country. Thanks for the opinion.

Yep. I'm all for multi-culturalism but come on now, actually trying to get the laws of Islam here, in England? Hell no. If you don't like it gtfo.
They tried to ban CHRISTMAS decorations here last year. CHRISTMAS! It might offend Muslims. What the fuck ever, I'm keeping my tree up.

ha they tried it here to, wanted christmas to be renamed "winter fest" or some other bollox, and in usa saying happy holidays was deemed offensive i heard, smh makes me wonder about some people, coming to a country and demanding things be changed, dont like it fuck off, but they wont, this spineless goverment is to chicken shit to say what needs too be said, they carry on giving out free housing and benefits to them and they continue giving this country the big fuck you while people from this country suffer

its alot of racial hatred in this country towards muslims etc after the stunts some of them have pulled, and now the "racial grooming" thing is not doing them any favours either

Whats 'free' then? Isn't it the freedom to practise your religion peacefully in the way that you see fit? That' certainly what the International Convenant on Civil and Political rights says it is. The US became a signatory in 1992 although its known not to have changed things significantly domestically.

Of course, I'm sure you can see the conflict in your statement- 'free', but only if you agree with me?

Personally, I think the niqab issue is a red herring that steers away from any serious debate about looking for ways to find tolerance and understanding of each other. People talk about security, terrorist attacks etc. Allowing people to wear a form of religious dress does not cause terrorism. It's just about fear of the 'other'.

If someone wants to wear that I couldn't care less.

You all compare it to other countries and having to cover up in theocracies and autocracies etc. However we should feel blessed that we live in democracies where we have individual liberties. Individual liberties are not isolated to just one group that has views of the majority, though. Don't you see that by defending their right to liberty, you are also defending your own?

A muslim doesn't give a fuck about my liberties or yours.

They can dish it out but they can't take it.

If we keep letting people from repressive societies into this Country it will become intolerant and less democratic.

That seems to be the plan.

Muslims would NEVER stick up for your rights as a BM...all you have to do is look at the way they treat Blacks in the countries they control.

If my woman has to cover her head in a muslim country and abide by their laws.....then....his woman should UNCOVER her head and abide by the laws of this land.

It does make you uneasy, but mostly what pisses me off,
is if we were to go into Argos with a crash helmet on or some such, we would be asked to remove it or leave the store.
There reasons quite rightly being so they can catch you on CCTV.

Double standards all round pretty much miffs me, when it comes to stuff like this then it should be mandatory.

What is the point of more policing on the streets and cctv to make you feel secure when you have people galivanting around in a full headress.

My first real Job I had to stop a woman in a Burqua for shoving picture frames in her bag,
we had to hold her there till the police come and how could we ban her from the store when we didn't know what she bloody looked like?
We just had to wait with her, then they arrested her so we never got to see her face.

Unless you're like that kid who's alergic to UV light or something you don't have an excuse.
