I don't consider it rap...you considered it rap, I am trying to figure out where you are coming from with this.

Dlyna, nothing taken away from him, but his inspiration for his art was borrowed. And it was taken from the very black folk he sang about, that is why his songs seem to sing so vibrantly about "The struggle."

Dylan was the head figure in the folk movement in America. What folk singer is more famous then him?

    Idiot statement?

There is a huge gap between the "rap" that came from Africa and the rap that's played today. Dylan's rap however was very similiar to todays rap.

Wow really? One example of that being untrue is hurricane katrina.

So he rapped about Maybachs, swagger, bottle of Ace of Spade? You said it was similar to todays rap.

If you are genuinely here to show support all that was thrown out the window with that above statement.

First of course there is a huge gap. African Americans created a culture when there was none. The result was a hodge podge of "cultures" made into one. And real tangible (if you want to use that word) expressive culture from African (mostly West Africa) did not materialize until towards the end of slavery.

Second: Rap in Africa now is an offshoot from Rap that is currently in America, not the other way around (that is if we are talking about rap today)

third: I was not talk about who was or was not the most famous.

    AND LASTLY:

We have a saying in the Army "Knock em out with knowledge or Baffle em with bullshit" and now you are trying to baffle me with bullshit. You spit something out there that just FREAKING CRAZY and then when challenged on it your reply is "Oh go find it for yourself" The fuck out here...

...Uncle Sam payed a good amount of money to send my black ass to school to be come educated in African-American history (and a minor in Asian history). I am excited to learn about new things, but the onlything you have spit here is "SOTBS"

    SOME OF THAT BULLSHIT.

So only a black person can understand the struggle?

Remember Jim Zwerg? Of course not so I'll show you...

He was the white guy who rode with the freedom writers and got off first knowing there was a change he'd be killed.

You think he did this for fun or to look cool and fit in with black people? No, he did it because he felt the pain and struggle as strongly as any of his black peers.

Imagine a gay guy just got beat up for being gay. And then he walked up to a black person and said "You don't know what it's like to feel discriminated against. You're not gay so you'll never understand". He'd look pretty stupid wouldn't he?

The people affected in Katrina make up what, 1% of the black population?

"Now the medicine man comes and he shuffles inside
He walks with a swagger and he says to the bride
“Stop all this weeping, swallow your pride
You will not die, it’s not poison”

    -Tombestone Blues

Oh yeah did I mention Dylan said the word "Swagger" in his songs 40-50 years before rappers started talking about it?

I'm going to be honest and say it.

NICO stop beating around the bush and say what you really feel!!! White people were the first to rap, some how you all created it..etc etc etc.

Just a clear example of how "our" treats black people in times of crisis but if you want me to give you more precise examples sure why not?

Blacks are more likely to be arrested than any other race. Fact!
Blacks are more likely to be executed for the same crime whites committ. Fact!
There is almost triple the unemployment amongst black men compared to white men. Fact!
When was the last time you heard of anyone other than a black male being assaulted by the police or being killed by the police?
If you're white and I'm assuming you are, its cool for you to be here but just understand if you don't personally have to experience something there's no way you can speak about it.

lol I'm black, I posted my pic in that picture thread...

You said Bob Dylan wasn't important, most idiotic thing I've read so far in this thread.

When Time Magazine made their "Top 100 most influential people of the Century list". Dylan was one of only 2 music acts. The other being The Beatles which was a group of 4(not including George Martin)

He's widely regarded as not only the most important but one of the best ever.

If you disagree please tell me who was better then him? I gave you my proof on how he influenced Lennon, Hendrix, and a ton of others.
Where's your proof that one single person was better then him?

You still don't get it. You don't have to be apart of something to speak about the struggle.

I noticed you avoided it so I'll mention it again.

Gay people are discriminated against for being gay, black people are discriminaed against for being black.

2 very similiar things and you're telling me it's impossible for them to understand the hardships of each other?
A person who doesn't get hired because he's gay feels the exact same pain as a person who doesn't get hired because he's black.

That's like if I got shot in the arm and you got shot in the leg. Then I walked up to you and said "fuck off, you'll never understand what it's like unless until a bullet hits you in the arm".
Are they not 2 similiar things?

No one is talking about who influenced who or what, who is better. Your clown ass is trying to dodge that statement I bolded earlier. Since you say you are black!! a picture proves nothing. I can copy and paste to.

    Stop while you are ahead..please

When I walk into a room people see my skin color so they see me from a mile away. So you have people that panic off of that like lock they door, grab their purse, question "if this is my car", follow around a department store!! No one is crossing the street when a gay person walks by. Most people that are gay you have no idea unless they tell you or by their mannerism and gestures. No way the discrimination is similar. True they have a struggle as well but no way you can compare.
