So we've got a funny accent, huh? Personally, I think these people need to lighten up. But I guess when you have everyone kissing your ass and your ego for years, it's difficult to believe that you're anything short of amazing. I'm personally not a fan of Gervais though, so he can get a roasting as far as I'm concerned.
I don't mean it in a negative light. I'm referring more from a national-centric perspective. Other accents, even within our own country, some accents are just funny. The humor, be it slapstick or dry...British shows are generally as funny as American shows. What gives them a leg up is how they deliver it through their accent.
Anyone wanting a primer on British humor should see Withnail and I. It's the only film I've seen that made me laugh from start to finish.
