Do you always work out in the evening? I used to but someone suggested maybe my erratic sleeping was because of working out too late. Even when I switched to morning it didn't seem to make much difference though.

I use straps or wont happen, I was just making a joke w my trainer and said my goal was 165 lb, it was just a joke, but he slapped on 145 lb and said, "go". So I did. The last set was bad form tough. But it was the first time though.
I was very shake in my arms the rest of the night:)

Yep. I work on east coast time so I usually am in tc's by 5am very often.
Even so, I have never been able to work out in the morning, I dont have the energy at that point. I like working out at 7 or 8pm. How is your sleep now?

I estimate that I am about 20lbs overweight. Lots of spillage in the stomach area. Gotta hit the cardio hard this week. Leg Press 720lbsx10, woot! I started doing pretty much 85% dumbbell workouts to even out the size of my arms but instead it's making the difference in size even more noticable. :smt013 Returned to the Keto diet yesterday, moody and hungry first day and so hot, felt like a walking sauna.

It's Never Too Late to Start

People often seek help for weight control, prevention of diabetes, increased energy and youthfulness. I'm a firm believer that you can achieve all of those effects by making physical fitness a part of your lifestyle. It shouldn't be something that you dread doing. It should be a part of your life, that you make time and a place for because you want the benefits that it brings.

I started working out many years ago and I have never been sorry for having made that commitment. I competed as a drug free power lifter at a bodyweight of 165. Despite being a relatively "skinny" guy compared to the steroid users that I competed against, I found that being natural was not an impediment. I benched 370 lbs, squatted 550 lbs and dead-lifted 650 lbs. My dead lift was the second best in the world a the time and I was probably the only drug free lifter in the top 50 best lifters in my sport. I'm the only person I've ever seen, at any weight, to do a set of ten chin-ups and a set of ten weighed dips, both exercises with 200 lbs. of plates around my waist.

Over time, with business, education and family I stopped competing but continued to work out. Then, about five years ago I decided that I wanted to get into really good shape again. So, I got fired up and decided to compete in bodybuilding. I won my age group in my first three contests, with very little understanding of the importance of nutrition. Now, I have a much better handle on nutrition and I must say that guys half my age are amazed and can't keep up with me in the gym.

So, when people say that you're too old to start or that you can't gain muscle after a certain age, don't believe them. It just takes the will, discipline and consistency to make improvements. Right now, I weigh 208 and would like to get up to 215 or 220 lbs and then trim down for a couple of contests this year. I predict that I will be at a competition weight of about 190 and no more than 6% body fat.

I intend to work out for the rest of my life because it's good for me. Women shouldn't be afraid to hit the weights either because it's good for them, increased bone density to fight osteoporosis , weight control because of increased calories expended and increases in muscle. The vast majority of women, and many men, don't need to worry about being overly muscular because you have hormonal deficits different than men that prevent your gaining significant amounts of muscle. NOTE: That doesn't apply to many of today's athletes, women and men, whose physiques are synthetically induced.

Good luck to all who set off on the journey of healthy living, workout out, healthy foods. It's all good and your body will love it.
