Tha main reason for people to really hate them is due to 9/11. Prior to that, we hardly knew much about Islam, although we do have a population of Muslims living in the U.S.. So combined with 9/11 and the media's attention to the more extremist Muslims who practice old world thinking, hatred towards a group of people based on a few individuals and their action is pretty much on the forefront.

In many respects, Islam is practically no different from any other Abrahamic faiths - Christianity, Judaism except some of its practices. It's another religion, where some cannot wake up from the dark ages, while others are trying to modernize themselves and integrate Islam the same way Christians had to water down their beliefs. Except now, it's a big struggle with extremists having greater influence and douse their followers with a spice of fear and delusion.

I agree the post 9/11 reactions and the media's coverage of the mostly the extremist /radical forms of Islam that has brought the negative reactions around the world about Islam and Muslims and that negativity has trickled down to the Muslims that are practicing the religion correctly, and those are the people that are unfairly judged upon. The extremist that refuse to modernize and continue to live in the dark ages has brought that hatred upon such a beautiful religion and again i agree Islam is not too different from the other religions. As we can see the extremist will continue to corrupt other Muslims and will be damn to give in and modernize their religion until then that hatred and negativity and hatred will continue.

Indeed. There's a good concentration of Muslims here and I'm good with a lot of them. They know I am an atheist and all and well we always have debates on spirituality. It's refreshing. I'm "not" their brother, but they do welcome me to their homes. The less religious Muslims...I get along with them easily.

That would be the radical/extremist that will brings the hatred not all Muslims think that way and it's lil unfair to say fuck all Muslims, most Muslims are very nice intelligent people.

It would be unfair to lump ALL Muslims in the same category, the same goes for Christians, Jews, Hindus, and other groups. Just recognize that the good goes with the bad.

Look at all the terrorist attacks in Russia in the last ten years. Hundreds of innocent people killed. All of the attacks were by Muslims.

Apart from that, people have issues with the religion itself I guess. It's ignorant to clamp everyone into the terrorist category of course, but you'd be surprised by how many modern muslims share radical views. Look at England, we have a HUGE Muslim population and their attitude to England and the English is disgusting sometimes, and yet they behave very hypocritically.

Ya'll can dish it out...but YOU CAN'T TAKE IT...

Muslims don't speak out on the SLAVERY that is prevalent in muslim countries.

Yet they cry about the palestinians.

Look at the way workers are treated in Dubai and Saudi Arabia...ect ect...it's a LOT worse than the way Isreal treats the palestinians.

They treat people like shit..yet..they BITCH when they get a cockeyed glance.

    Fuck em'...

I notice Islam is really being pushed down people's throats in the mainstream US media of late. There was a 20/20 special on Islam recently. Why do I need to know this in a Christian country, I wonder? Why should I care about Muslims. Do they care about me? This is the same media subtly suggesting I should learn Spanish.

    Nice people I'm sure, but...

Well first and foremost, this ISN'T a Christian nation as what most people mistakenly claim. We're a nation of many faiths and beliefs and our core principals aren't based on any faith. In other words, it's a secular nation with a lot of diverse beliefs. However, I will agree to an extent that Islam is being shoved down throats of individuals. Notably because of the relationship between the country and the (unwanted) war.

Why should you "care"? The same reason why should we care about any new thing: to gain a better understanding. Plus, within a few years, 30% of the nation's population will be Muslim. The same goes for Spanish. The dynamics of Spanish speaking migrants coming to the country, we have to adapt to the times. Besides, countries in Europe, the vast majority of people can speak multiple languages, so again it's a matter of adjusting and economics.

Sorry dude, this is a majority, Christian, English-speaking nation that allows other faiths and languages to come here but make no mistake about what America is.

To your second point, I don't think so. The veiled meaning I'm getting via media is that Mexicans will take over and be my bosses someday so I should learn Spanish. Nope.

If I were planning to travel to Mexico to work and live, wanting to get health care, education for my kids, a driver's license, passport, etc. you can best believe they'd make me learn their language. In Germany, German lessons are a must if you want a visa. It's the law. So don't give me that shit.

    With all due respect :D

    1. Yes, America is a SECULAR nation in which the majority of their inhabitants are Christian. That's an accurate statement. Show me anywhere in the Constitution or within history of this country where it's ideas and laws come from Christian beliefs? You can't. History speaks a lot on the issue, and the Founding Fathers sure as hell didn't get their beliefs from a Christian doctrine. The Treaty of Tripoli is a start for your journey for knowledge.

    2. Certainly Hispanic populations in the U.S. are steadily increasing and, combined with other minority groups, it will actually make whites 40% of the overall population within 2050 or so. But to think they are taking over is mere nonsense. And regarding learning Spanish - being bilingual is practically of importance. It's not "forced", but in the workforce, for economic reasons and inevitable social zeitgeist, learning a second language won't deter or detract people from English.

    3. I agree that if migrants are to come to the US, they must master at least Basic English, and continue to learn it if they want to integrate effectively into the country. That's a MUST. No one is arguing that.

Only one thing that I don't get it...why do Muslims attacked people to the others? You know, Before beginning of the 20th century, everything was fine. Until Osama Bin Laden arrived, everything went upside down, because of him and his terrorist groups.

Just what's the hell is wrong with them?

The U.S.is not a christrian country it is a country of many faiths and beliefs,Islam is not being pushed down the throats of any people, it's up to the people that don't know about the religion or the people of the religion, to open their minds and know who the people are so they won't be sterotyped or clumped in one category all muslims are bad people or terrorist etc....when indeed they are not. i am sure if you ever met a true muslim one that is not radical/extremist, and is a true follower of his God,his belief, his book, that muslim would be the kindest individual you ever met, so i think they would taking liking to you, all muslims are not bad.i don't think the media is subtly stating get ready to conform to the Islamic way just as i don't believe they were suggesting uprise of the mexican in America get ready learn spanish.
