I am not the most sophisticated when it comes to savoring wines, but I did learn to appreciate the fruit of the grape when I was living in Europe from 2006-2009. I was not able to drink at all during the past year in Iraq, but I can now.

My local wine store carries a good variety from a lot of places around the world. Not too expensive either, usually < $15.

Here's what we opened today for dinner (except it was the 2008 version). Very tasty, just a little bitter, but smooth. It is from Australia:

Wine drinkers out there, what are you drinking?

My grape variety preferences would have to be:

Reds: Douro (Portugal) & Priorat (Spain)

    Whites: Alvarinho/Albarino (Portugal/Spain)

I've found the quality pretty consistent regardless of the bodega/casa it comes from.

Aussie and NZ wines are gaining in popularity here in the US.

Same here, although once we find one we like, we keep some of it around.

I haven't experienced any of the wines you've all listed - but I love Argentinean Malbec wines. Red and somewhat dry = yum.

For excellent table-wines in a very acceptable price range:
    Menage a trois.

    For more pricey options:

Unti wineyards Barbera is to die for if you like a full on wine. I think this one is my favorite, its like liquid steak:)

They have my favorite Red Zin too.

Unti Wineyards is my favorite bar none. If you can, go visit. Its still small.

Amphora wine yards have a wonderful Cab. and Red Zin.

Cakebread Dancing Bear (Cab) is to die for.

Clearly I favor meaty Zins, 100% Barbera (hard to come by), and Cabs.
Most Merlots is for the birds imo.

Oak-y chardonnays needs to die. Big buttery, yes.

I like Chenin Blancs, but need to go investigate what I have.
I have some from Ca and Washington and Oregon.

Its actually a really good table wine. Lobe it and cost like 11 dollars or so. The red is great but their withe one is pretty good too.

Haha, I love wine from all over but it would be too lengthy if I went through it all so I narrowed it down to one area... lol.

I'd like to hear about Swedish wine if you know anything.

The spirit of choice for Vikings, it seems. It was in abundance when I was in Finland, along with beer. Even while in the sauna.

Dont ever drink w Fins, LOL. Very dangerous. Vodka in the Sauna, now , theres is a receipt for disaster:)

There is not wine production in the Scandinavian countries, but they drink it.
Due to some tax systems and advertisement. Sweden managed to change the alcohol consumption patterns in Sweden many decades ago.
It was mostly Voda et al that was being bought and less wine.
These days Vodka consumption has gone way down and consumption of wine etc went up. It was done in an effort to decrease the consumption of hard liquor.

Finland never did that, they were also under the shadow of Soviet for so long as well and had similar alcohol customs as they did, not quite but similar.

I should clarify: 15 min sauna. Drink. Repeat until shriveled or out of vodka.
