Yeah, I knew that NY is crazy expensive, but I didn't think the tolls were that high over there. Wow.

I'm actually surprised they haven't done something similar in IL yet. They're raising everything else on us! :smt089

It's all over the board. I know NYC is much more expensive though.

Out in the suburb where I live, if you want to find a decent apartment in a decent complex, then you're paying $900+ a month for a one bedroom, and that's not including utilities, cable, internet, parking in a garage (if it's available).

    I've seen 2 bedrooms/1 bath apartments for $1400 a month.

The apartment I lived in last year, was a 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath, and it cost me $966 a month, before cable/internet. That may not sound like a lot because the complex was HUGE. It had 10 buildings and tons and tons of units, so the cost was kept down a bit.

That's crazy. I've seen studios around this area for $800, though most are in the $600-750 range. Nuts.

I payed $2400 for a regular two bedroom apt in Playa Del Rey in LA - nothing special at all, not updated and kitchen from the early 80s.
Looked at another 2 bedroom in Santa Monica, same price but that one had 30 year old carpets and paint.
As a apartment complex owner in the West LA, beach cities, you can get away w that. Thats how much it cost and there is absolutely no luxury involved.
That is just the cost in the beach cities.

Pretty much, you should have seen the Santa Monica apartment, it was disgusting, yet, it was rented the day after I looked at it.
    Its insane:-(

You can get a nice studio apartment in downtown Chicago for $1000. My uncle stays in a highrise off of Dearborn (downtown), and I know thats what he pays for his shit.

Yeah, I can't afford to live in the city of Chicago, so I don't even bother looking at prices. LOL.

    I believe it.
