They said on the news that it had been discovered that he did indeed purchase the gun. I have a special kind of hatred for the second amendment, personally. It's the one on the list that I feel is archaic and more of a novelty at this point. I know many people are going to disagree, but the fact that some random person with mental issues can shoot a Congresswoman and a bunch of kids at Virginia Tech- CLEARLY there is something WRONG with these 'rights'. I don't think owning a gun should be a 'right' - it's a privilege. And to get that privilege, you should have to go through a battery of tests run by several different doctors in order to be approved. You should have a 6 month waiting period with someone watching your ass to see what you're up to...all before you're even approved to purchase the thing. Grrr. OK, maybe that's a bit over the top, but it just irritates me. It's too easy!
...and there you go, right on cue. So before fingers are pointed at Tea Baggers, check the radical left. They are viciously hateful of those who disagree.
There was a thread about this a little while ago, I made a similar comment above although not as well put, but added the risks of being shot with your own gun included in mine. And not having the right to automatically own a gun if they want to, did not go down well with a crowd here. I'm not American I'm british and we have strict Gun Laws although they still aren't perfect. Perhaps the embarassment of a man going nuts and killing a Politician with a legal gun, will get your government to do something about Gun purchase.
And here you go with the false equivalency. MoveOn.org woman head stepped on by radical Tea Partier. Al Franken's condo/plate glass window shot at (lucky nobody was home). Giffords' office ransacked before she herself was shot. Rep. Danny Davis here in Chicago got death threats. Oh, and don't forget the king of all Right wing radicals, Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City Bomber. Nor am I counting all the abortion doctors who have been shot. Wonder what party affiliation the shooters claimed? Hmmm let's see now. If anybody's radical it's the gun-totin' Right and their "2nd Amendment remedies." The problem with you conservatives is you think everybody else has as short a memory as you do.
Any time a member of Congress is shot at while meeting her constituents, it's a political shooting. I can't wait to hear reports from what this nut-job says when he gets into courts. First words out of his mouth, 'I luv you Sarah!!'lol
It seems the Right won't take responsibility for their actions like Palin,Beck, and their ilk. As I type this they are using the insanity defense of this gunman. I hope to see Keith and Rachel on this shooting. On Fox News I see this house slave who represents the Tea Party and no question on the minds of those kooks they would lynch that brother.
Just like they never took responsibility for how they left the country after Bush/Cheney's disastrous eight years in office. Them winning the House was a good thing. Now they have to actually govern.
I'm a little behind in my research on this story. However, am I correct to assume that a detailed account of the attack has yet to be released by law enforcement. I'm just wondering if he actually TOOK AIM at a child or she was just caught in the crossfire. Also, eye witness testimony in these type of deals have to be picked through with a fine tooth comb. You never know what things people THINK they see when bullets are flyin around em.
The left is trying to peg him as right wing nut. The right is saying, he is a loony left. Few his classmates said his a right winger got possible link to american renaissance-this group view is anti-immigration, anti-government, anti-Semitic. And they link themselves to uber right. His fav book mein kampf Most his classmate described him as: Left wing Liberal Big Pot smoker Rages against the constitution Rages against Bush govt Most often spoke critically against Religion Loves the Communist Manifesto Burns American flag. So I am not sure if he is a right or left loony, but I can tell you he is a loony.
Francie, I have heard about the gun laws there, but don't know much more than they are far more strict than what we have here. Americans, in my opinion, seem to always be the ones screaming about 'MY rights'- right wingers in particular are almost always leading the charge 'MY rights, MY guns, MY country, MY borders, MY taxes' and very little to no 'OUR'. As a nation, we're a bunch of selfish brats who throw temper tantrums as soon as we think we've been slighted- or might be. Most people who own guns do so for no other reason than for the sake of owning one- to be able to say 'I am exercising my Constitutional rights!'...Yeah..and? Do you want a friggin' cookie? The National Rifle Association is right up there with the Westboro Baptist Church. If a child accidentally dies from a loaded gun they find in a house, the NRA is first to say 'Well, of COURSE we should be safe with guns- put them where kids cannot find them.' Um, how about this? How about if you have children YOU DON'T OWN A F@#KING GUN?! How about you install a goddamn alarm system? It's 2011, not 1911. The local gang isn't going to come rolling up on horses with pistols blazing to take your livestock. Jezus. If we had stricter gun laws, a Congresswoman wouldn't be sitting in the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head, a Judge, nine year old girl, and others wouldn't be dead, Drs. Tiller and Slepian might still be alive, Seung Hung Cho might not have been able to kill those kids at Virginia Tech, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold wouldn't have been able to get at the guns that killed their classmates, and on...and on...and on... Maddening, I tell you. Maddening.
