What are some positive and negative things your generation brought to society?

    Are you talking the times or actual generations? Because if it's actual generations, I don't think our generation has been around long enough to have achieved anything truly great yet.

    If you're talking about the last 30 years or so (which would include everyone alive during that time), then I'd say positives would be The Human Genome Project, environmental causes becoming more mainstream, the internet, computers and cell phones. I could add more, but I'll stop there.

    Negatives would be reality TV and reality TV "stars", environmental causes not being taken seriously enough, the internet, computers and cell phones.

    During these times our communications have opened up, but somehow or another we remain more closed off than ever before from our fellow humans. :smt011

    Positives: Chicago House, Detroit Techno, New York Garage, Acid House, RUN DMC, Spike Lee, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, New Jack Swing, New Wave music, Depeche Mode, Willi Smith (black fashion designer who died tragically of AIDS; his sister Tookie dated Robert DeNiro), Live Aid, The Cosby Show (bourgie black people on TV), A Different World (bourgie black college kids on TV), Public Enemy, Native Tongues movement in hip-hop, credible females in hip-hop (early Latifah, MC Lyte), Duran Duran, 2-Tone Ska Music (The Specials, The Selecter etc.), Prince

    Negatives: None :)
