oh shush. Japanese animation tends to have far less moving parts. lol They're just really damn good at making it not -feel- that way. American animation tends to look cheaper because we always want to over do everything with secondary animation for even minute things so we tend to go with simpler styles of art, when we should take a page out of Japan's book and just animate -cooler-, more complex things and leave everything else stationary or on a loop. lol My animation history teacher spent a lot of time talking about the difference between anime and american animation. lol Cause a lot of kids at my school are obsessed and wanna do -that- kind of animation. Not gonna fly unless they leave the country and/or are very fourtunate and gifted, because we're not taught how to animate like that and the studios here that do it are outnumbered by our american style animation studios.
My comic book character...as in, I've written and illustrated a 10 page story with her already, but someday I hope to do a graphic novel. She's far too interesting to explain in 10 pages. >.< This is the only incarnation in which she has not massive boobs. lol gah, I need to draw some new ones of her. These look like crap to me now. lol
Nice work. Hopefully you get to put your characters and ideas into a published graphic novel. One upon a time I was considering becoming a cartoonist or comic book artist myself , but life threw some curves my way and I unfortunately did achieve that particular profession. I still love to draw but busy work and home life keep me from putting in the drawing time that I use to when I was younger. Here are two pieces of art I've had the opportunity to draw when in the last six months or so when I've had quite time to myself. Have pity on me because I'm self taught with no formal art training at all.
Yea, I pass by much of the anime. It is about the story not the supreficial things when it comes to shows. Many of the american animations are pretty good despite the cheap animaiton look. Justice League unlimited was awesome despite the bad drawing. The same goes for Batman: under the red hood, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. owlman to the left! However, Ghost in the shell blows a lot of american animation away and has an excellent plot line.
Great job, Ra-Ra. These remind me of my son drawings...too bad I can't convince his stubborn ass to do anything with his talent.
Thanks TT. If your son is the type who looks at drawing as more of a hobby type thing don't try to push me into doing anything with his art. He won't be happy. It will be just a job for him. If his art is something he has a passion for doing and he wants to do something with it then yes encourage him to seek out a career that he will be happy in using his art. He'll be far more creative and successful if it's the latter. Just saying....:yawinkle:
I appreciate you, Ra-Ra...excellent advice. The only thing I'm pushing him on is doing something. He's about to be 19, and most of his focus is on girls, video games, anime & skateboarding...he needs to get off his ass. He's had a hard time finding a job (of course imo, he hasn't been trying hard enough), but he's supposed to find out if he got one he applied for tomorrow. I sure hope he got it. He's always been passionate about his art until recently, & he's talked for years about getting into animation & video game design, etc. I hope he doesn't let his talent go to waste like I did...I should've been making a living with my writing by now.
Yeah, this is up my way in the Seattle area. Been getting a lot of local press in the last couple of weeks and is starting to get soon international attention as well.
Clips from a documentary about Black superheroes in comics called Shaft or Sidney Poitier featuring interview with various Black artist and writers who work in the comic industry and their take on Black characters. It came out on the independent film circuit last year. I don't know when or if it will be release onto DVD. Have pity?! You have a really interesting style, I won't pity someone I can say that about. lol You just need some anatomical study and it'd be perfect! That shit is hard, though. I've had like 3 or 4 figure drawing/anatomy classes and I still struggle with anatomy sometimes. -_- Regardless, I like You should draw me something cool to colour sometime. I love colouring
omg YES! Just hope it doesn't go the way of Kick Ass, though. lol Why the hell did the news publish his name and secret hideout, though?!!
Thank Ms. P. I'll gladly take that bit of praise from someone who has some art training under their belt. Yeah I know if I had some proper first hand anatomy training under my belt, I'd probably be more inclined to rekindle my desire to possibly put something together myself and get it published. Let me know what character you may have a preference for to color and if I can make sometime whenever I'll try to put a sketch together.
This Just In : Phoenix Jones Gets His Nose Broken. This from the Seattle P.I.: 'One of Seattle's self-proclaimed super heroes had his nose broken and was threatened at gunpoint Saturday, prompting police to again ask that he and others stop with the costumes and call 911.' Notice the beginning of the quote said 'One of'. Does this mean there are more Seattle Super Heroes waiting in the wings? Is this the first of a long line of broken noses and pistol whipped Petes? Phoenix Jones is having none of the 'Call 911' talk, last week on 'Good Morning America' Jones said calling 911 was like waving a white flag, in fact Phoenix had this to say in response: "I endanger my life with a reason and a purpose." Phoenix went on to say something that rings true to many defenseless victims of crime: "If police aren't here, criminals feel free to run wild in my city," he continued. "And I'm not going to stand for it." To which Seattle PD responded: "Does Superman get his ass kicked?" one detective asked. "These people should not be called super heroes."
For those of us who like our vampires to be actually beings of horror & terror and non wussy ala that Twilight bullshit, check out Brian Lumbly's Necroscope series. A perfect combination of action, science fiction and H.P. Lovecraft style horror it's the story of Harry Keough and his allies within the top secret British agency E-Branch as they battle against the "alien" vampire race who call themselves the Vamphyri.
