i used to love wearing my rotc uniform through the neighborhoods, and while traveling to and from school. Random people would thank you for what you're doing, and vets would show a sense of pride. I still remember riding the bus and having an out of uniform army guy (spotted his divisional patch) crack a peek at me a few times with a smile.

stuff like that just motivates you to do better, whether you're absorbing basic leadership principles in some classroom or getting ready to deploy overseas. I guess morale is a real thing and not just a myth.
