Okay manly men, I'm not interested in building up my calves muscle wise, because they're already too damn muscly. What can I do to get rid of the muscle, without turning it into fat? I'm pretty small and have very muscular legs. I don't like it too much but not sure what I can do to make them smaller. The only exercise I do is jogging and dance classes.
On alternating days I'd work my legs.... my regime wasn't so much for bulk as for explosiveness and performance. Everything in 3sets of 12 unless otherwise noted. Also, I do only 3 exercises per workout because leg day is also back and triceps. Jumping Squats, as many as possible in a 1 minute period w/ 15 second cooldowns... total of 4 minutes. Jumping Alternating Lunges (same as above) 150 tractor tire jumps (3 sets) Then, the standards: Leg presses Calf Raises Curls, etc.,. etc.,.
Pettyofficerj is not the only person around here who knows their way around a weight stack. Look at a pic of Allen Iverson, or Darren McFadden, the RB for the Raiders. (And no it's not because of Allen Iverson's build, Rajon Rondo is also slight and he has developed calf muscles). Now compare their calves to someone like Ray Allen. AI and DMC will NEVER have calves like Ray Allen. Sorry, but there is a genetic component involved. I agree with pettyofficerj that you need to bust your ass for at least a few years to find out what your 'genetic potential' is, but the fact is not everyone has it in their DNA to have thick, diamond shaped calf muscles. Black folk from my experience in particular. Yeah there are Black athletes who have incredible calf development, but you also see a great many who virtually have no calf muscularity at all.
like i said, he wont find out unless he tries nay-sayer and i never claimed to be the only guy that knows his way around weights, dont even trip black guys and physical shit is like peaches and cream:smt038
Your post comes across as "look at this person and look at that person." Yet, you haven't shared any real-world experience on your achievements or pitfalls attaining muscle development on your legs/calves in the gym. Blackbelt79 never posted a photo so how do you know where he/she stands from a physical standpoint to bring forth Genetics? Genetics always stems from family heritage. It is precisely why pigmentation differs amongst many people despite falling within a certain racial category. Upon reading Blackbelt79’s post it appears he/she never exercised his/her legs. At least Blacktiger 2005, pettyofficerj, 4north1side2, and, flaminghetero offered some suggestions on legs/calf development. One thing I’ve noticed as an avid gym member. Those who are building muscles solely to attract girls will only focus on their abs, chest & biceps. Gym Rats will do squats, straight-leg dead lifts, good mornings, and a plethora of other things that are not at the forefront of media roundtable. These blokes could care less if another girl gets giddy over their physique. They work hard to better them selves. I have yet to hear one say they cannot achieve their desired calves based on their racial background. Cheers!
