Why do people complaining about The Matrix's sequels?

That's like saying why didn't Han Solo kill Darth Vader when he had the supreme opportunity.

 

LOL, I liked the Matrix, too...but it just seemed odd that you would point to that. I mean, technically, Mr. Smith could've taken Neo out at any time, by that logic, because he could be anyone in the Matrix at any time. Problem solved. And those holes did get worse as the movies came out.

Besides, the last LOTR movie could have ended like, seven times in that last hour.

Oh, and what if those hawks only live in that area of Middle Earth? And what if they couldn't use them until Gandalf was the White Wizard? BAM!

In the Matrix agent Smith could have been anyone but when he encountered Neo in the second movie he was still building his ranks and if even he could be anyone it doesn't mean he could be everywhere. And his objective wasn't to kill Neo it was to turn him being that killing him in the first movie didn't work.

If those hawks only lived in a certain area then why were they defending everyone in the last movie at Mordor? They literally saved Frodo from the volcano and they saved Gandolf the Grey in the first movie when his bff was busting that ass. So apparently Gandolf could have summoned them all along.

Again major major plot hole.

I think he's refering to when Han Solo pulled the gun on Vader in Cloud City and......wait!! Didn't Vader use the Force to block Solo's blasts and then use it to take the gun away? So that can't be it then. Yeah, what and when was this opportunity again?

LOL @ the Dumbass tie fighter pilot who screams look out and swerves into Vader like a noob. You would think the 2nd in command of an evil galactic empire would atleast have compentent pilots at his side.

 

I don't see how he has the ultimate opportunity. Darth Vader easily avoided them.

 

Pinpoint to me in the video the exact moment Vader manuvered his ship to "avoid" Han Solo.

 

This answer maybe a stretch, but here it goes...

When The Matrix came out in theaters, it was something new and refreshing that no one really imagined possible. The bullet time and action sequences were definitely the highlights of the movie. So obviously, we all were VERY much into what was delivered. I mean hey, it's cool to turn into a super warrior who is destined to save the world.

As for the sequels...they weren't bad at all. If not, they were really consistent with the first movie, with one major difference: Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions were more story driven and the action sequences weren't as enticing the first time they saw it. That wow factor died a good bit. Not even the respectable Dr. Cornel West couldn't really save it completely. Of course, we could look at the resolution in Revolutions and say that the ending isn't what people wanted altogether.

And the biggest issue of all was high expectations. The first one was so damn original and good, it's hard to really up the ante with the same formula. So, when people were anticipating the second movie, people were hyping it up dramatically...much like the second Men in Black. They just lost a lot of luster and the "oomph" just disappeared from that point on.

 

lol...at least leia got around in skimpy clothes, fired a gun, nearly got it on with her twin brother & went after the bad boy and won. i'm no fan of the last 3 that hit the cinema, more old school and prefer the iv, v & vi...so do my kids.

I don't know why either since those movies were one of the few mainstream flicks where a majority of the Black actors in characters that are not in the hood. I saw all of them and when they played I looked forward to the next one. If it were not for that plane crash that ended her life, Aaliyah would had done a great job in those series of films. One of my favorite scene was when the Italian actress Monica Belucci appeared in that skin tight dress.

 

I think critics just couldn't appreciate a great story over visual effects.
