im feeling sick after seeing this clips... shamefull but we all know that is not a easy job to be a BW in this world!
It actually makes me sick that people react this way. It doesn't make sense to me.. I CAN'T BELIEVE PEOPLE ARE THIS IGNORANT!!!
its good and bad. The good is that people reacted in a way that went against what is wrong. Like the woman cried when she saw the other woman being racially harrassed. that is good. then the guy was put on the spot about his racist ways.
Great post GL. I'd rep you if I wasn't all out. One thing to keep in mind is the age of the people who were racist. I would love to see a study using a place where younger people frequent so they can use it as a control also changing up clothing. I seriously can't believe people called the cops because someone was sleeping in their car. Damn some white people are paranoid as fuck.
I have seen these clips b4. It would be nice if someone finds the clip from 20/20 where lots of American WW were asked what it takes for them to date outside of their race (a specific race at that),,,,they were responding how much the guy has to earn and what kind of job he has to have, it was interesting.
Do you guys realize how much the media heartily feeds the way white people view black people? All white people "have black friends" who do not fit stereotypes. To the average WASP those friends are the ones who have beaten the odds and are not commonplace. When we listen to music, watch TV and movies and most certainly when we see the news the majority of what we see is stereotypical black behavior. That's what's sickening. What can we do to stop that?
AGAIN, we are over exposing the bad part of the clips. look at how (the store scene) where the ww cried because the BW was being harrased and the other folks were about stage a riot. not exusing the other folks for not helping or the guy trying to condone the bad behavior (we can key up on that later). lets talk about the two groups real quick. what do yall think abou those situations. also what does it say about the old man helping the black kids steal the bike (that was funny. so gullible or was he) ?
It makes me think that most men don't like to get involved in drama and that white men generally don't have a problem with racism as long as its not happening to them. These are my initial thoughts anyway.
I just posted a thread called "what is the love connection between BM and WW ? " and I believe this thread will spark a realization on why WW were quick to join the cause to fight for what was right in that store. I believe ww are more empathetic and strong hearted like BM and that is why ww like bm. see how the BM took charge and tried to protect the women in the face of racism
Ok, the bike video has more to do with her being a woman than being white, if it was a white guy I'm pretty sure many people would have called the police, most people just can't envision women stealing anything.
Interesting thread, this one! The clips were enlightening as well as revealing. They sure drove the lesson home.In one sense people are taught universal moral principles, yet circumstantial and justifiable moral reasoning is what you will mostly encounter in real life. Yet, stereotypes predate many of the folks that internalize them, folks that call them forth to make decisions in problem situations. How does one handle ingrained prejudices that has become an habitual response?
The guy in the first video is told he was recorded then he lies on top of it about his behavior. Yee.
They didn't collect enough data. I wish I saw these being done at a college campus or an old folks home.
