Coz in America, we are taught not to say things like, i.e. that guy is a good looking guy or handsome guy & he has no problem getting a fine woman, etc,
Funny thing is lots of 1st gen Middle eastern and Asian American talk that way and no one gives them shit about it.

If America didnt have a history of slavery then dating outside your race wouldnt be a issue more than likely. You come from Brasil if I remember correctly, South America had a completely different history in terms of slavery and the way things were handled. That plays a part and how we go about things up here in the states.

    i guess

where I work, no one has a problem saying if another dude is good lookin. It's all in how you say it. If you say it like you want to suck his dick, then yeah you might be gay. :smt071

Dude you're sounding real insensative. You're not dark skinned so you can't really comment on being dark skin but you are black. Idk if its because you're a little younger and the dark skin light skin wasn't an issue for you growing but that shit so deep in the black community. I personally don't like dating bw because of how complexion obsessed they all seem to be. You're on the lighter of being African American so of course you don't see a problem because you personally don't have to dea, with it.

I was around with it but I don't make fun because we're all niggas to the man. Light, dark, dont matter. When they see that nappy hair and those thick lips, it's over.

mothafuckas dont have any pride around here. :(

I feel you completely on this Unchosen, I mean a person with common sense can tell when a person means something in a gay way vs a general compliment. The funny thing is American men and men in general judge men on looks all the time. If a man has ever called a man goofy looking or said another man looks lame then he has judged a man on looks (its funny and ironic).

To prove my point on how men judge other men whether they want to admit it or not. Say Matthew Mcconaughey or whoever your girls favorite male celeb was standing by your girl talking to her, most dudes would get jealous because Matthew Mcconaughey isnt a bad looking dude. Now say Seth Green was standing by your girl I bet dudes wouldnt be as jealous, because Seth Green is pretty goofy lookin.

Yeah you're right but within our own community there is a caste system and being as dark as I am the blakc girls didn't let me forget it. Why would anyone gravitate towards that. Especially when the physical issue people have with you is based on coloring. Its crazy how most bw can not appreciate me for being a talented very educated and interesting man. They just see dark skin and won't consider me, at least when I was younger. I feel like more white women see me as just a guy more so than bw do. Just my experience I guess.

wow we are all getting educated today. good points.

imagine what society would be like if aliens time traveled back in time and stopped slavery, the holocaust and colonialism.

we wouldn't even be having this conversation right now would we. something to think about!

too true. i'm personally in the middle. i'm not light nor dark.

american black people are complextion obsessed.

white europeans in certain countries are not supsiingly. A german girl recently told me that she was suprised to learn that dark skin blacks get a bad rap as opposed to light skin blacks. she was unaware and suprised!
to her black skin really is beautiful and different.

Even tho the majority of trans atlantic slaves ended up in Brasil, the way America and Brasil operates in this day and age are completely different.
Correct me if I am wrong, isnt the majority of Brasil population has some African back ground, like >69 %, but racism still exist in Brasil too, doesnt it? Large portion of poor Brazillians are = blks, right? You are right about the dating thing tho, from what I heard & know most Brazillians do not care if you dating outside of your race.

I get what you're saying, but I do know how much of a role skin color plays in the black community. I grew up in the deep south, I was called redbone, high yellow, cornbread ect my whole life by dark skin black folks. I know some of it was jokes, but there was some sense of self hate in the comments they would say to me. Some felt to make themselves feel better that they had to insult me. I might be young, but I do know about the problems colorism has caused in the black community. Ive seen it first hand, Ive had girls that I use to work with me ask me if Im mixed over and over again after I told them I was mixed down the line, but not immediately mixed (as in one of my parents being white). Just because I know how to talk properly and because Im lightskinned. I have hella stories where colorism played a part in me gettiong out of trouble or getting treated better.

Its hella fucked up in my own personal opinion.

So is it a surprise that someone as dark as Wesley Snipes would give up on bw all together? My issues have more to do with interests but also complextion. I'd prefer to not be reminded that someone thinks they're better than me. And truth be told too many bw have a chip on their shoulders. How fucking hard is it to smile every once and awhile.

With Brasilian slavery slaves were able to buy their freedom and slaveowners would leave property to their mixed kids etc. Brasil and South America were built on miscegenation just like America but it seems like mixing down there was more open. I will say though I hate how people associate having sex with other "races" as being not racist or more friendly towrds other races (thats bs). Attraction and racism are 2 completely different things, racism has to deal with a person having a superiority complex and attraction has everything to do with what you find visually attractive. I know people who hate asian people, but love asian women. I do think that is one thing I dont like about how South Americans (in general) view race, alot of my fiends from South America tend to exhibit the behavior I stated earlier of thinking racial mixing equals equality/no racism.

In South America there seems to be a reverse one drop rule. One drop of non black blood makes you not black down there and up here one drop of black blood makes you black up here.
No it really isnt that bad, its all about how you carry yourself. I have alot of white friends, black friends, etc and we all are friends because we respect each other. I will say in the south racial jokes are common, but its doen more in a humorous way. You get some jokes you give some jokes lol its all about rolling with the punches.
