Electromagnetic Rail Guns: A Revolution

Again, the military is at the forefront in the development of a technology that will revolutionize the world like it did with the Jet Engine, The Ballistic missile, The Internet, and the Computer. The electromagnetic railgun is an outgrowth from the old Star Wars (Strategic Defense Initiative, SDI) program from President Ronald Reagan.

Perhaps the Navy can solve the heat problem of the capacitors by drawing in seawater for cooling. The application for such a gun can be put on space or air based vehicles that could hover around the earth and strike at targets on the ground from above. Less time to travel and to kill targets on the ground or in space.

What temperatures are we talking about here?? How much heat is generated by the charging of those capacitors??

Give me some specs if possible to check out what can be done to either disappate the heat generated or a cooling system. Mach 8 is freeking incredible!!! There are many variable that must be considered before an effective cooling system is designed.

Im sure the NAVY (high tech) has thought of it all by now and is looking into something outside the box. Our NAVY is incredible!!!

ps... we might even be able to use that excess heat to power or charge something else. wish i new more about what the navy really does on the technical side....
