hard to tell since she doesnt have the mental capacity thou she knows were counting down to jesus's birthday so were getting there
both my 6 & 7 year olds still believe in santa...and they believe in santa's fairies that appear to adults when you call them 3 times (like candyman) and fly back to santa to tell him all the naughty things they are doing. it works a treat :smt023
HA! For my oldest it worked until I think around 7, but i have this sneaky suspicion that this will be the last year for baby girl.
And the question is: if they don't anymore, how did they found out??? I got my first doubts when I noticed that Santa's gifts with my name on them had my mum's calligraphy. It was so cool though. We used to prepare the table for Santa with some nuts, chocolate, tangerines and coffee-and-milk in case he needed energies It was so cool to wake up in the morning and see the nut shells, the empty cup and the tangerines peelings I really thought it was him and wondered "How did I not hear him?" lol.
i love getting everything ready x-mas eve. when they're asleep i get out some boots and put flour around them to make it look like he's walked through our front door to the tree, half chew carrots and spit them out on the front lawn so the kids think that the reindeers have eaten etc. just to see their faces when they wake up and see the boot prints and the carrots is priceless
I'm the sentamental one. My better half is far more pragmatic and logical. If it was up to her Santa would have died long time ago.
LOL about Santa's fairies. Dang it, why didn't I think of that?? My parents would have special "Santa" wrapping paper and would write our names using their left hand. I have carried on that tradition with my daughter. My daughter is 8 and still believes. My 11 year old niece hasn't said anything. I think my sister would kill her if she did. LOL. I'm sure this will be the last year for my little one. It's a shame. But they have to grow up sometime right? And even after all of us knew, we still got gifts from Santa. I think it's a fun tradition and I will still follow it even after she finds out. Wow, Tarshi, I'm impressed! You go through a lot after they go to bed. Excellent! Your kids are lucky to have you! You're such a good mum.
Mine are 8 and 4 and still believe. My niece knows the truth and im waiting to see if she tells my two.
my sons (8 & 5) both still believe and I'd like to keep it that way a bit longer - trying to keep them innocent as long as possible...
Lovely!!! Bookie, now that you make me think about it, I also noticed that Santa used our same wrapping paper, LOL, so it's great you are using a special one . And I'll take notes about the left hand for when I'm a mum, lol.
As a child, when I found out the truth and confirmed it with my mom, I felt a sense of betrayal. So that thought is not so far off LA.
I don't remember ever truly believing he was real, but I went along with it for everyone else's sake as it seemed important to them, and they went to some trouble to make it appear he was real. But honestly I always found the concept of letting a stranger into the house in the middle of the night, when your kids are sleeping, just because he had something for them, illogical. My parent's were pretty deficient, but they weren't that stupid, heck my mother wouldn't invite the neighbors in, she's sure not about to invite a magic fat guy in red velvet and black patent boots in the house. As for my kids, my daughter believed till around 8 or 9, my son started getting suspicious at like 6, but didn't fully confirm he was right until he was 9. Santa was the last to go though, he figured out the Easter bunny way before that. Although I always expended effort to make it as believable as possible. The Santa gifts were never wrapped, I set them out on Christmas morning really early and put a handwritten card with them. I wrote it in calligraphy, cause Santa always seemed like he'd write in script you know. It was also never the best gift they got, I don't see the point in the guy who essentially goes around pulling off a bunch of B&Es getting the credit, when I worked my ass off to provide the gifts.
