What I find interesting about "believers" is that we're often told that the ways of God can't be comprehended by humans but some how the "believers" know the intentions and mind of God.

I don't think anyone knows what God is or isn't in order to believe or disbelieve in it.

Easier said than done. You're asking the question about God. Whenever if he show his face to us, that it would make much easier to believing in heaven, that there's after life.

But You know that he can't show his face. Nor we can't see his face, that's because there's a rule. A very strict rule. Only dead can see his face. A living beings really can't see him.

You should know that rule. For a example..there's different place where law taking place.

I wonder that as well. I guess they just don't base their faith on the Bible itself, and if they do they simply ignore the contradictions. The other day I brought up one of God's contradictions while discussing his existence with an online acquaintance. His response was: God is allowed to change his views on things, he's God! My response: if God can change his thoughts that easily, how do you know the whole Bible isn't obsolete? It's not even fun unless the person is at least willing to meet you half way on an intellectual level.

Well, when he said "God" and "change" in the same sentence, he actually stated that "God" isn't omniscient and all-knowing because if God is essentially perfect, then why would It change it's mind on anything? Furthermore, this does trace back to my controversial (and often misunderstood) comment regarding the fallibleness of God. Thus God is a Human.

Of course. If God had the correct answer to every solution then there would be no need to ponder about things as we do. I was humoring the fellow. It's good to let people put God in hypothetical settings because it further highlights his infallibility. Even saying "his infallibility" is humoring them.

Don't you mean fallibility? Because what you're doing is exposing the flaws of their God when they see their god as being perfect and without being wronged in the matter.

You surely feel the need to seperate yourself from people by stating how your going to break it down and make it simple.

I'm guessing that religion is very much a topic of interest for you, have you studied it in school extensively?

Learning about religions really do fascinate me. I wanted to study theology at one point, focusing on the world religions. Commonly, those who are theologists generally hold a belief system to be true, while studying others or have a concentration of their own belief system as their focus of study. Never, did I hear about a nonreligious theologian who studies varied religions. That would be something I'd like to do. But

I have the Qur'an and the Bible and off and on, I read them to get a better understanding of the books. I read them not from the eyes and mind of a Christian or Muslim, but someone who like to know what makes them so special or grand.

I was aware that eventually, my thoughts will eventually cause me to get alienated by some people here, thus they would create a great deal of resentment and uneasiness with me. They're all wonderful people and despite their attitude toward me, I still view them as individuals with big hearts and smiles. However, I never lied to anyone, for when I came here, I clarified in a different thread about my positions on religion and my atheist viewpoints. I mentioned that I can grow headstrong on my statements and I don't like using the phrase "my opinion".

Bro- relax,,, noone is trying to alienating you. The few Christians who responded to you or to this thread including me are loving and peaceful ppl. I dont know about ME but I know Espy, Tam and Flyingeek are all loving, wonderful, peaceful christians. I dont think they will resent anything that you say in this thread or on the forum. They have no ax to grind with you. They are intelligent ppl, they know you are stating your opinion and entitled to it. Noone is trying to shove the bible down your throat bruh, you beleive in what you believe and we believe in our Jesus. No war here but peace bro.

I'm use to it. I'm a black guy, living in the Bible Belt south (Louisiana), and an atheist and basically a person's view of me change. This has happens quite often. They would love to talk to me at first, but when religion comes up and where I stand, the attitudes pretty much change. So, they speak to me from a distance and see me as a "friend" from a distance. I reality, they think quite low of me. It's disconcerting, but I've grown use to them acting that way, so I'm always anticipating that wearisome attitude.

However accurate different religions and doctrines are, they are an interesting look into the past. I think that it great that a lot of colleges make you take an entry level class at least. I hear so many people say that They never expected to enjoy those types of classes. The only draw back is when you get a prof that went off the deep end a bit lol

I noticed you seemed rather defensive when others rebuttal. It's not your thoughts that are alienating you on this particular topic, but your word choice & tone. iMO, to suggest to an adult that you need to make something simple for them is automatically under inning their level of intelligence. At the very least it's impolite. Also, just because you point out a problem (headstrong), doesn't excuse from your actions.

This is true. However, it's not necessarily required for my university in many of the majors offered. But there are classes which educates on religion and how people lived and believed. It's very fascinating, partly due to our deep-seeded interest in seeking answers regarding the uncertain and unknowable areas of life. It's basically philosophy with a focus on religion. Heh, I never had the opportunity to experience those teachers that go off on a tangent when it comes to the class. Then again, beyond my education in Catholic school, I never had a religion class to be taught.

I never implied that my actions were ever excusable. Just that it's something that is trigger and I'm aware it's fairly problematic. per se. I should ease down my attitude and acknowledge some things regarding others. However, I never want others to rethink their beliefs altogether, but give a perspective from someone who doesn't share their views.
