If G-d gets all the credit for good why not the bad

Steve Johnson blames God for his overtime drop
    By Chris Chase
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Steve Johnson(notes) dropped an easy, game-winning touchdown pass against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

After the game, Johnson placed the blame for the flub not on himself nor the pass nor the lights nor the defender nor the pressure of the situation. Nope; he blamed it on the big guy upstairs:

Players always thank God after a victory, so it's sort of refreshing to see one blame Him after a loss. Not that I think the Almighty is overly concerned with sporting events or played any role in Johnson taking his eyes off the ball, but I'm glad Steve Johnson does. It must be nice to live a consequence-free environment where all errors can be blamed on a supreme being. I'm trying that next time I get pulled over for speeding.

The bigger question is why Johnson thinks he can't learn from this incident. Did he learn nothing from "The Dark Knight?" Sometimes a hero needs to be tested!

Although I'm pretty sure Tweeting a passive-agressive swipe at God isn't the way a hero responds. But maybe that lesson comes in the sequel.

I read the comments and they were slamming the dude for his comments. The comments were stupid and trite but here is my question (s):

We tend to give credit to G-d for the propitious events that happen in our lives so can we give him the diatribes for the unfavorable events in our lives ?

There are so many unfavorable events in the bible such as Job, Joseph , David the three hebrew boys....ect..

should we complain or what ?

    Theory: God = King

I can't really give out a straight answer, but a good comparison would be that God is akin to a king of some popular land. Basically, royal families back then held a great deal of power and the countrymen and his legion of people would deny any wrongdoing or actions caused by this King. People are willing to ignore what's unjust or horrendous because "he's King" and can do anything it pleases.

Such is the way of God (of the theistic religions). God is akin to good fortune and empowerment, thus they are compelled to ignore the events which took place in the Bible because they see their god as being "just". Many ad absurdum comments could be implemented as well. The thread in the religion forum really hit a chord on many people on here when I stated that God is essentially the human ego. They probably have a hard time understanding what I meant by that, but if they read the Bible or their respective holy literature, they'll see that the God they believe in have the same characteristics as a person of high prestige or authority. Above what we consider "just" and "law" for the common folk.

I know it should have been in the religous thread but I did it for marketing reasons. LOL

Are you asking religious people or non religious people? The degree of rational in the answer is entirely dependent upon it.

As an agnostic, neither thanking nor blaming god make sense to me. For us as humans to interject and pick & choose what god has a hand in and what god doesnt seems arrogant.

I've seen people blame bad stuff happening on God all the time, then they say they're atheist now.
I believe we're the only ones responsible for what happens to us.

Ehhh, if they do that, they really are "angtheist". They lack the belief, but not quite at the same time.
