Arch, I couldn't agree more. Seal's version is just down right nasty!

Here are a couple of remakes I enjoy as much as the original.

    Smokie Robinson - Cruisin' (original)

    D'Angelo - Cruisin' (remake)

Deep Purple - Highway Star (original)

Metal Church - Highway Star (remake)

    Banarama - Cruel Summer (original)

Ace of Base - Cruel Summer (remake)

    Hey Ya

I seriously love the original (cos I'm cool like that), but this cover is FREAKIN' AWESOME!!

    Original:

    Awesome cover:

Sarah Blasko also does a very sweet cover.

I'm a firm believer that some songs (and some movies) should never, ever, ever be remade.

"What a Wonderful World" comes to mind. I have never heard any other version even come remotely close to the original.

^^^ That being said, I do love Megadeth's version of "These Boots are Made for Walking" and their "Anarchy in the UK (USA)". :smt023

This I find humorous, especially since it reminds me that after 9/11, ClearChannel released a memo to affiliates containing lists of songs which, in essence, might have been censorable due to objectionable titles or lyrics. Included was Alien Ant Farm's rendition of Smooth Criminal. Absent was Michael Jackson's original.

    I like both versions...

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Liquid Swords again. RATM is one of my favorite bands, always knew you had great taste!

David Bowie & Brian Eno, also with possible involvement by Trent Reznor and associates (variously credited), "Showgirls" OST (1995)

David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails/Trent Reznor Remix from "Earthling" (1997)

    David Bowie & band (2002)

    Nine Inch Nails (2009)

This song has, I believe, has 7 official remakes including at least 5 by Nine Inch Nails, 1 by Nine Inch Nails and Ice Cube, and 1 by Photek. The 1997 version is not one included as V1-V6 in later material. .

I prefer the live 'remake' played by David Bowie and company.

yeah, but tina put her foot in that one tho. she really made it hard to say she didnt do a good job on a remake.
