That's not funk...

Wow, some people don't know what funk is, some do. For the Record, Prince is not funk, the difference between him and Morris Day is the fact The Time is a FUNK Band period. Prince is something between Rock and R&B.

Rap Groups do no belong in any discussion of "funk". They use samples from funk music, but they are not Funk.

It took 5-6 pages to see Teena Marie which some of you should be ashamed of yourselves.

I've also found very little Leon Foster Sylvers productions listed, some of you are smoking some good shit whatever it is.

    So without further ado -

Props to my fellow DJ Rare12inchSingles from right here in Los Angeles pm You Tube.

Mark King of Level 42 and John Taylor of Duran Duran both learned how to slap the Bass like The Brothers Johnson and Bernard Edwards of Chic.

    Speaking of The Brothers Johnson

What's even more shocking is I have all these 12" singles... A DJ's work is never done.

Why you quoting me when many other people posted stuff that wasn't funk?

    Fuckin' show off....

You must think I'm picking on you, I'm not, you just posted some Prince which has never been funk. The Funk group in Minn/St Paul is The Time.... Prince is clearly Rock focused with some R&B elements, I have all that man's shit save for the latest stuff cause its not that great its okay.

    On with the show -

Now before you say Janet Jackson isn't funk. She generally isn't BUT her production team is Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis from The Time, so naturally she would end up doing some funk -

Everybody fell in love with the TR-808 Drum Machine, so that's why its not Bass driven like stuff from the early 80's, late 79's but its still Funk.

As for showing off, well as I said I'm a DJ -

If I'd let people take pictures of me I would have plenty to show me in action.

John Taylor, Bass Player for Duran Duran and Power Station -

    More Blue Eyed Funk -

The Godfather of Soul and funk's originator!

I likely meant The Emotion, I believe you posted "You got the best of my love" which was written by Maurice White of Earth, Wind and Fire I think. Kind of Disco/R&B hybrid.

    More Funk -

From the Rhythm Section of Talking Heads came more Blue-Eyed Funk -

Even more Blue-Eyed Funk - Dr John

More Funk from Leon Foster Sylvers of the Memphis based R&B Super Group dubbed the Jacksons of the South of the same name (Sylvers) in the mid 70s. He and Kashif made some of the meanest Funk beats of the early-mid 80's.

    Speaking of Kashif....

Ladies and Gentlemen (always love saying this) Ms. Evelyn "Champagne" King!

His own shit, which is some serious shit mayne.

Of course James Brown is one of the original masters of funk...
