Has/is anyone scared that their kid might not look anything like them?

I've always had this fear of my kid not looking anything like me. Also, to be more specific, Im not talking about in terms of race (I could care less what race my partner is that I have a kid with, because I like women of all colors/races), I just mean in general. Id love my kid regardless, but at the same time I would like them to look something like me.

My son looks nothing like me and I really, really don't care at all. I don't think I'd love him more if he looked like me lol.

I feel ya... I would love my kid regardless of what they look like, its just part of me would like to be able to see some sort of resemblance of myself in them besides behavioral traits.

My son looks like a black version of me. My mom used to laugh when my son had his huge afro because she said it was funny seeing my face under all that hair lol. He favors his dad a little too, but he definitely favors me more.

Whenever my friend and I see a kid that looks nothing like their parent, we go "somebody get cheated on".....jokingly, of course.

STRANGER: "Ummm, isn't it just me or your daughter hasn't gotten enough sun?"

ME: "Yeah, the missus and I are conducting experiments seeing whether our offspring's pigment can grow more pale if we keep her black ass out the sun. Moreoever, I'd like to point out that upon this experiment, assholes like you were trying to sweet talk her into your pedo-mobile. Now you met her dad, allow me to show you my gratitude of recognition!"

(15 Minutes Later, I Arrive With Sveta at Home)

SVETA (Wife): "So did it work?"

ME: "You bet!" (Kisses her sweet, Eastern European lips) All went according to plan. Who knew the results would be that easy?

SVETA: "Oh? Did you beat his ass down when he tried to run away?"

ME: "Actually, I didn't. See, he stood petrified knowingly realizing he was dealing America's most dangerous person: The Educated Black Man. So I BS'ed my explanation and said her skin is based on a science experiment."

    (Sveta chuckles...)

SVETA: "I see. It makes lots of sense now. You basically scared him so bad, you even made him pale! Another experiment worth keeping in the records!

(Sveta and I share a kiss)

ME: "The beauty of science and psychology, baby. The beauty of insanity and stupidity is a strong one at that."

when I started to realize that I was most likely going to inevitably marry a wonderful handsome black man in the long run....it took me a minute to get over how I had always pictured my little girls having blonde hair just like me. Everyone in my family is blonde...my 2 siblings and I practically looked albino as kids cus we were so blonde. It's still something that makes me a little sad....as ridiculous as it sounds I KNOW lol But still...that whole envisioning one thing and then life takes you another way. Sometimes it takes a minute to readjust. :smt045

Hahaha, I think in the end, genetics will play itself out quite well. If the recessive genes within the DNA of the children carries itself more than the dominant genes, then chances are, you'll have caramel kids with golden hair which is natural. :) Don't feel bad at all. Whatever the case maybe, you'll still have beautiful kids no matter what the phenotype carries. :smt058:smt080:smt058:smt080
