Jay-Z mentioned Hammer in a song So Appalled with Kanye West in which he mentioned Hammer losing 30 Million and that Cash4Gold ad. Seems Hammer did not take the joke.

One might think that a person who does a commercial lampooning their own mistakes would find it understandable for another rap artist to use their real life experience as examples in their own music. Anyone could rap about people such as MC Hammer, TLC, Young Buck, Will Smith, Willy Nelson, Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, or many entertainers, politicians, and others squandering their riches to the point of near or veritable bankruptcy at some point. However, among these, MC Hammer's particular story is obvious and easy to lambaste. Having made that clear in the aforementioned advert, he should know that best of all.

 

true dat but people jump on hammer because they say he sold out rap. which is a bunch of bullshit. look at Ice cube when he dissed hammer for "showing his teeth" in the song true to the game. he dissed hammer for dancing and being family friendly (acceptable to whites). Now Cube mr. thug doing family movies when hammer was being family way back then. people were hating hammer for selling more than they were. They are just kicking hammer when he hit the skids. so I dont have no respect for the rap community. I like cube but when he did that shit My respect level for him went down alot.

hammer is not so mad they using as a joke but it is more of a point of loving the fact they love he hit hardtimes. they should be thanking the man because he took rap more into the mainstream with others help to doing that.
