Sometimes, it's a lesser of two evils. Otherwise, you really can't complain when the one who wins does something in office you object to.

I've heard this statement plenty of times and that's completely false. If I didn't help put him there I can complain all I want and if I did help put him there I can complain all I want. If someone is doing a shitty job its your civic duty to point it out. Truthfully the only true voting power in this world is dollar votes. Politicians are all bought and paid for at this point.

The more you vote anywhere, the more power you attain. If 200 demographic people vote, that's all they need to cater to. Why wouldn't you vote for an Indy instead? That's your power right there, not not voting Dem or Repub. Even though Dems or Repubs view it as merely diluting their results, since it's considered a throw-away vote, it would be even greater to see CNN announce an INDY won.

Hey you can say we ARE the brightest because we're smart enough to know that if you lock Einstein and Brock Lessner in a room we know who's gonna win. Power is all that matter, might does make right.

Your reply is oxymoronic. You DID help put him there, because you didn't vote for his opponent.

If they're doing a shitty job, pointing it out is just as shitty. Pushing the voter button is your civic duty.

    So are the voters.

I actually have to disagree with this. IMO if you choose to do nothing, you lose all bitching rights should it not turn out the way you want. You want to complain, then at least make a decision one way or the other, otherwise I think you just need to be quiet.

Quit trying to talk sense to these dummies. Stick to topics they care about, like who the best rapper is. They'll get passionate over bullshit like that but actual civic duty is corny. They will suck Tupac's 15-years-dead zombified dick but voting is too much trouble. Then they want to get mad when the older generation stereotypes their asses as spoiled, lazy and cynical.

My point is Independents never recieve air time to tell people their personal beliefs and policies. All major media outlets force feed you this Democrat and Republican bs. I remember for the last presidential election the Republicans and Democrats were being covered everyday by the media, while the Independents had one fucking day to express their beliefs to the American people. Also with the whole vote thing alot of that shit is corrupt/faulty as all get out.

I dont know if you were referring to me when you made this statement or not. I could give 2 shits about Tupac (I think he is pretty fucking overrated), I could care less about who the best rapper is etc etc. My point is, I vote, but I only vote when I can agree with the majority of the candidates policies. I dont vote just because the person happens to belong to the party I usually vote for. ALOT of dumbass people try to hit you with this, "people shed blood, sweat, and tears so you could vote" bs. Which is true, but Im sure when they were shedding all that blood, sweat and tears, they were hoping that people would make a EDUCATED VOTE, not to vote on some superficial bs (which is what ALOT of people do). Like I said, I vote, but I dont vote just for votings sake, I vote when I believe in the candidate.

Do you know what an oxymoron is?
Anyway I stand by my post because as long as we have a basic two party system that is allowed to accept soft money from special interest groups the needs of the people come last. Both sides are disgusting. The Republicans are callous and out of touch with the American people if left up to them they would give tax cuts to corporations at the expense of the middle class and still allow them to out source precious American jobs and talk about a bunch of war mongering dumb asses, they won't be happy until every non Christian is dead.
The Democrats are even worst because they refuse to act. Even with ownership of the legislative and excutive branch they failed to get as much done as they could because they are too concerned with making friends with people who could care less about their friendship.
Both parties especially stink because they'd rather be loyal to their parties than the American people they serve. The gross mismanagement of mony on both sides is disgusting. We spend billions we don't have to on foreign aid and wasteful miltary expendtures that could revive the economy but won't because they are more concerned about international ties than their own people and you know why? Because the corporations own every single one of those fuckers. Look at where the majority of their campaign money comes from. So tell me what's the point of voting when my vote doesn't count especially in a state like NY. Its democratic through and thriugh and won't change.
